Awesome pics MaulFan :clap you finally have him! :rock

How did you get the sash folded the way it is, the part that goes over his belts and scabbard?

I've always start with this method: https://youtu.be/E6eunHmC-tQ

and futz from there. I LOVE the method HT used as in using a magnet on one side of the belt and one on the inside of the sash loop that hangs so once I got it how I wanted, I added my own stronger magnet inside the loop w/ double sided fabric tape and that got me what you see in the pic

Thanks for the link, I think that method is better than the tutorial I used, I had that among like 3 videos on sash tying, I didn’t have much time so I opted for the shortest lol.

So happy you finally got him, MaulFan. Love the colouring on your hat - how did you do that?

For the sash - If you roll the edges of the flappy part of the sash in on themselves, it can help remove the square look it has.

Thanks for the sash tip.

The hat is a painted Medicom. I based my colors and pattern off the Curse hat. The base color of the hat is a dark, almost charcoal gray type brown, and then there are spots where it fades more to tan brown shade where the original color is worn away from the elements, and on top of that are some fine line scratches, presumably from battle.

I'm sure the HT hat you're using could also be painted in this fashion.

For me, Curse was the best looking hat overall, loved the level of wear and tear and the color mix, for 2 and 3 it got to be more the dark shade with less wear, the POTC 4 hat was a whole new color scheme altogether that almost looks like it's a chocolate brown with black stains all over. Pirates 5 actually does pretty good at imitating the Curse look, best of the sequels I think. Curse also had the best overall shape and really define the shape I expect Jack's hat to be in any product.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the "hair on a string"...?

what is this.jpg

A new Pirates 5 trinket, I haven’t read any background on it, though many of his bits have no explanation, I left it off, with the Mom head now having faux hair, having random hair hanging off his belt looks strange and it didn’t really stand out on film.

It took me a while of staring feeling something was off about his head and then I finally realized my reindeer bone was positioned behind his hair on the side, after I adjusted it everything look right :lol

DX06 still has the wheel. I'm still on the fence with this new Jack. I don't really want two Jack's in my collection and I don't want to sell my DX06. In the end I might fold and have DX15 as my one and only 1/6 figure for 2018

For me, the sculpt and paint in this was a deal breaker. Having passed on the DX06, i lucked out on them making this. It's in the top 3 of my faves.

Am I the only moron who cant figure out how to put the accessories on his belt?

No, they are a bear to deal with... but surprisingly the instructions are exactly correct in their placement. That shocked me. Good research.

I had some time today to attempt a first futz...

Talk about a cluttered hoarder. And I didn't even use the wide croc belt.

The color of the shirt surprised me -- I first thought it had been sitting in the box for so long that the jacket stained it. At least I assume that didn't happen

I added a little stuffing to the delicate ankles.

I want to try the Maulfan mod with the coat... so for now he's "gypsy" style. That hat doesn't bother me as much as it does in pictures... but its clearly oversized.

Once again this figure has to be the best HT can possibly do- heads above anything they have done- as was DX06 when it came out.
At $265 the biggest "bargain" of the last few years from HT

Excellent sash work, you guys are killing me, it’s the one part of him I struggle with getting a proper look too.

Thank you!

I had more trouble with looping those little strings... and trying to pose the eyes was tough too. I'd get one lined up, then could never get the other quite right. :lol

I "drowned" my fur-whatever a bit too to make it smaller.

He just seems so cluttered to me though. Maybe I'll lose the knife and the 2nd pistol.

No trimming, just a quick spritz from a spray bottle. Then used my fingers to gently rub it downward.

I always feel like Jack should look wet, or at least look just-dried from being wet.

Yup, it'll be the first thing I do with this guy.

BTW, MF -- I LOVE your coat, wish I had the dye skills.

WG, looks amazing. So, did the boot stuffing help? Kinda reminds me of ANH Han that way.

Did yours come, Pjam?

The stuffing helps a bit. You can kind of squeeze the ankles with yours finger until they look real. I wrapped a little thin strip of paper towel around the post. The boots as a whole need some work out of the box.
