Hot Toys DX15 Captain Jack Sparrow (Dead Men Tell No Tales)

If there is a another Jack, I doubt it'll be a DX.

I'm not sure what the difference is now between regular release and DX, but I do think this will be the last DX Jack....I mean, the whole line can't consist of Jack figures

Well there is regular, deluxe, and apparently still DX . I guess the difference between deluxe and DX is that DX has a fancier box, a diorama accessory, and a foam bed for the figure. But the deluxe and DX prices are about the same.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for prices though. I recently paid the $250 retail for a standard release pretty barebones Doc Brown yet somehow this DX Depp and all it brings is only $15 more.

Don't forget the Diecast line, which is all Iron Man save for two Robocops.

For whatever the reason, the deluxe sets are about offering a DX level alternative to a standard MMS release, where DX figures are a DX set and that’s it, no other buying options.

As for cost, it’s all a balance of licensing fees and production. Depp’s likeness is the face of Pirates marketing, no added cost. Back to the Future probably doesn’t have likeness rights so MJF and LLoyd are probably paid extra for their faces.

HT QC on Nicholson Joker was some of their worst on a traditional MMS figure, but likely they didn’t give it their best cuz Nicholson’s likeness is expensive and they’ve been the only ones willing to pay.

For me, this is one of those figures that just feels like Christmas morning when it arrives. So glad I ordered it. HT Terminator was the last time I was this excited.

This figure is absolutely phenomenal. I literally thought that I was looking at a picture of Johnny Depp when looking at some of the pictures posted on this thread. This figure is so lifelike and I am really happy that I pre-ordered it. At first, I thought that I prefer the DX06 headsculpt without the rooted hair so I bought a DX06 head with both faces to use with this figure. However, the early in hand pics with the sculpted hair have won me over so now I may switch heads from time to time. I am so excited to receive this figure!

A minor recurring flaw is the sash which looks too new. Nothing some rips and dirt can fix though.

I have the DX 06, and I'm not interested in the new one.

Maybe I'll buy the serious sculpt on ebay....the rest is too similar to buy again. Plus I don't like the new hat, smiley face, and base.

If it was a Cannibal version or a COTBP Jack, I'd buy it immediately.
