Yeh, but none of them is definitive - the FoF sculpts are showing their age, the HT casual sculpt is, well, casual... and although I like the DX04 sculpts with the modded hair - not so much the non-BD one though - they are still a touch short of the mark imo. I couldn't walk past a screaming Bruce sculpt, so if it's a solid release I want to have squirreled away some funds just in case.

Makes sense, I always wanted that expression too for my collection as that's how I envision Bruce. I agree those aren't definitive sculpts, not sure if there really is one which is part of the reason I'm letting mine go.

The KB sculpts on the other hand are definitive imo, bar none the best I ever laid eyes on and are worth the stretch.

I think they pretty much nailed the lucy head sculpt i gotta give them that! Its a rare for a custom figure to be honest, at least the way i see many. Altho, The thurman headsculpt, something seems off to me. Also the garment etc for lucy came out pretty good!

I've only bought one custom as a full set, Iminime's Neo. The rest I bashed: Einstein by bashing Feng's sculpt with H2W's body and outfit; Agent Smith by bashing a HT Red Skull sculpt with Iminime's clothing set; Pulp Fiction duo by bashing Rainman's sculpts with Toy's City black suits; and Walter White by bashing Trevor's Walt sculpt and shoes with Entropy's gas mask and Moe's hazmat suit.

Even a simple bash can exceed the price of a Hot Toys set:

Walt sculpt = $45
Walt shoes = $10
Paint = $70 (and that was a bargain)
TT knock-off = $30
Gas mask = $50
Hazmat suit = $110
Total (approx) = $315

Yeh, but with Beatrix, Play Toys have basically the same set but with a crap sculpt for $130. So an extra $300 for what I see as the price of a sculpt... I can't fathom it. O-Ren on the other hand is a special figure, but I don't see her as essential in representing the film for me.

Very well put! ... I was reading that travor made the breaking bad head sculpt in a week! Now my view is that while these things are tough and yes its an art, i am sure as heads sculpts roll out the first probably takes the longest time! Now 300 for a head sculpt would be a stretch. Would love to have figures but there is an inflection point beyond which one must step back and say: its amazing, but is it worth it. I would love to have it but at what cost!!!

Comparing Playtoys to that is like comparing Hasbro to Hot Toys LJ

The PT tracksuit and shoes are plenty serviceable to me - and you get both non-BD and BD options. You also get a metal sword which, despite not being 100% spot on is also fine with me. So it makes zero sense to me to spend a premium on a custom tailored outfit when a perfectly acceptable option is on the market already. I have a GoD figure bashed with a knock-off jumpsuit and it's fine. Given all that, then yeh... the only difference of any consequence to me between the sets is the sculpt.

But hey man, it's your dream figure, $430 and the rest for the biker options is not bad at all for a definitive custom. I shelled out similar amounts for OC Bats (before the price crash after the BB set was released ) and Godfather. But I'd bet that plonking the Iminime sculpt on the Play Toys figure would deliver a result that from more than one foot away would be indistinguishable from the Iminime full set. That's the difference between the hard-core fan and mild-core fan - the detail you get from within that one-foot perimeter.

A true collector never lets the shipping cost enter the equation - especially when their significant other wants to know how much the thing cost.

Come on man... 43 dollar is not a small shipping amount. Imagine if that amount was charged on all hot toys. Well it is but you dont see it as its ingrained in the price or some of it. So to me it matters. It matters to the seller so it matters to the buyer. Simple equation sir. Its a cost one pays for the seller not investing in a store in every location that he would to reach you. So it has to be a fare cost unless its nominal and 10 pct is not nominal.

They ship from Korea, and you live in the US. Have you ever shipped a boxed 1/6 fig internationally with tracking/insurance? It ain't cheap.
