I am yet to be impressed by custom sculpts. Beyond the fact that they are exciting cause no big company is doing it i feel many a times they fall short. I have although seen that when it comes to improvising an existing ht or enterbay, i believe there are some good custom painters who make a difference. Otherwise i tend to stay off customs ... At least as of now. There are ocassional "wowers" but then they are too expensive for me to venture into...

What custom sculpts have you seen that you weren't impressed by? Go check out the sculpts of the top sculptors like Adam's Joker,Trevor's Walt, Rainman's Bill etc. They are amazing sculpts.

I wanted john trvolta one from pulp fiction. First when it came i passed it up as in i had seen on ebay etc and i never even knew what rainman was as i was not on any forum. Someone had listed it on ebay. Then i was about to give in sometime back and then again dropped the idea as in many of the pics does not feel that accurate, no disrespect to anyone here, and i know it takes a lot of effort. I also chased a few sculpts / figures and while they were great , but eventually dropped the idea for one reason or another mostly cause they looked i would say 70 pct there. But am just being honest on what i feel. As far as joker, i am amazingly happy with joker 2.0 ... Its perfect or close to perfect for me. And just so you know, the earlier jokers from hot toys were a complete pass for me even when everyone jumped on to them when they came in. Cop joker on the other hand was a miss. To keep the long answer short, i let go of many hot toys figures when it comes to sculpts, so customs are a hard to please and hard to fit the budget category. I collect cars, bikes, engine kits, and action figures so many dont make a cut as i dont believe in buying something just for the sake of it.. Of late my wife would feel otherwise. :) ...

I have the Pulp Fiction pair, and they're not up to scratch for me either. Lots of people are happy with Rainman's signature style, but I'm not a fan of a lot of his stuff. The sculpts he's really pulled off well are all characters I'm not interested in unfortunately. I think Snyderman's sculpts capture the PF characters better, you could always try those.

Lejuan... Thats a great point and may be some day i will step into customs. Its tempting, but with so many figures coming in from ht and so many on pre orders, i am now on 1.5 figure a month for past 12 months and frankly i think thats excessive. So while i still indulge unless a custom blows me away and is of a character i love i dont see a point. I mean it has to be a deadly combination of a great custom sculpt and a great character that i want. I have way too many hobbies to be a completionist or a " must have everything" kinda a position. My fav sculpts and custom has to measure up to that for me to induldge: godfather ht, joker 2.0, leon enterbay, aldo ht, whiplash ht, i have been devided on hans landa and a smirk wld have helped but thats not bad either. So if something measures that good i may consider again of a character i like. So let me know if any are better than the accuracy these portray...

Damn man you're buying 1 HT a month? If you were to get into customs you would have to cut your total down by half instead of 12 figs a year it would be 6. Then it would be about buying what you really love though. I doubt people are buying Iron Monger because they love the character. They're buying to complete a line. Thats the big difference with customs, collectors are usually buying because they love the character/film.

I sure am bummed to have passed on Iminime's Blondie and Kill Bill figures. But apart from being broke, my perceived value ceiling for any action figure, be it custom, licensed or bootleg, is $300. I'll stretch that for a so-called grail character that has been perfectly executed, but there aren't too many I can think of where that'd apply.

Time to raise the roof LJ, the KB figures are worth the stretch ;)

I dig 'em for sure :lol ...but as much as I love the movie, my love doesn't warrant the lazy grand they'd set me back. I'd pick up Kaneda and his bike before the Kill Bill pair. Or the insanely articulated SFBT-3 figure - 3 of them!

Tuition fees for my now school-age kids means my budget is strictly for grails. In the next 12 months I've got the 4th Doctor coming up, Iminime's Jesse Pinkman and John McClane (whenever they happen), '66 Batman, Robin and the Batmobile, maybe Enterbay's Big Boss (if it ever comes out and it's not a complete mess)... and then there're the 1/18 vehicles I have to cross off my list if my wallet stretches that far.

I'll have to make do with admiring yours Yankee, make sure you post some pics :)

I bought 1.5 a month because i sacrificed a lot last 2 years. So had to play massive catach up. But the thing with catch up is u still wanna buy everything u missed. Next year will be slow though. I actually blew up all the down payment i had saved for a new ride! Conciously. I felt i can always push the car for a couple of years.

Your feet will get you where you need to go but a car cannot capture the awesomeness and nostalgic pull of Inglourious Basterds :lecture

I feel ya, we all have our collecting priorities. The KB line was in my top 3 when I started the hobby so I can't pass em up even at the extraordinary cost.

Don't you have a Bruce Lee or 2 or 3 in your collection already?
