Hot Toys Elite Praetorian Guards

Honestly, this is one of the least appealing designs I've ever seen for a Star Wars character. Like I said previously, it just reminds me of the thumb guy from Spy Kids for some reason. The all red doesn't work with this either. The Royal Guard in all red was menacing and mysterious, whereas these look like they should have three other friends in different, bright primary colors.

Part of what makes the design so appealing to me is that they're faceless. It feels like a supernatural kind of evil in a way. It's more sinister than the royal guards, kind of like a futuristic, demonic samurai. I don't buy Troopers/guards out of principle, but I think they look cooler than senate guards or royal guards.

I wish they were a bit darker, I think that'd help how they look. Obviously lighting and stuff on screen might change how they look compared to the figure -
but overall I think a darker red might make it look less "plasticy". I'm absolute poop at photoshop so I'm sure everyone can do a better job,

They all were out when it started raining and saw a tray with bowls on it so they put the bowls on their heads. There wasn't enough bowls so the last guy used the tray itself.

Geez that's RED !! Looks awesome colourwise. As much as I hate this phrase, "they will really pop on the shelf !"

Wonder if that is the same colour which the real Imperial Guards will have ??

I like the square-head one with the barracuda jaw. But if these come out crimson-pink, then forget it.

I know there are 8 total according to books. In an ideal world I would get the ones with unique heads and weapons but that’s just too much for space and cash. The look is growing on me though

Yikes. It's just too rosy. If it was a lipstick it would be called "Hot Pink".

Maybe its supposed to go with Snoke's sheer gold lame robe and golden slippers.

Well as far as I know there's the following Lobster Guards

1). Buzzer Guard
2). Toenail/Barracuda Guard
3). Arrowhead Guard

There's a 4th...

They look very similar yet different -- Sideshow lists a more rounded mask as Praetorian Guard while the Elite Guard is the "Buzzer" look.


Look close, I don't think they are the same despite the angle.

I'll wait for the movie before ordering any of these. Right now I'm not sold on the design vs. Royal Guards. The image of Emperor Palpatine on his throne flanked by Royal Guards is hard to beat, but maybe there will be an iconic scene with Snoke and his Praetorian that is absolutely badass. Also they are supposed to be more than just set dressing, which means they might have one or two fight scenes or execute someone. Not sure if I will get three of these, especially if the only difference is the helmet and weapon.
