Its just very frustrating to me because we spend all this money on these figures and then the exclusivity of owning such amazing figures just begins to diminish.

There is no way ANY Hot Toys release is close to 10,000 units. There is not 10,000 people on this Earth that have $200 to spend on a Batman figure with moving eyes. The average Hot Toys figure is probably 3,000 tops. The price of Hot Toys keeps them from moving that many units. Everybody may love them and think they're the greatest thing in the world, but they aren't moving THAT many units.

If anything DX releases are smaller than the standard figures. There's not THAT many people with $200+ to spend on a figure.

I agree with an earlier post that mentioned how many would be on ebay if they made 10,000 of each. Hot Toys are just like anything else its supply and demand, their demand has been growing and so has their supply but I think its totally figure dependand and they base production on pre-orders. I am pretty sure everyone in the US gets their stock from Sideshow (who acts as the US distributor) and there is a reason its called a pre-order, if they have 1,500 orders for the newest Iron man figure they probably produce that plus 20-25% extra. Now if something like the new Gantry only has 500 pre orders because of the price they might only make 600-700 of them and in a year they will be $800+ on ebay like the batman tumbler. Its a lot tougher to figure Hot Toys world wide production because they seem to be more global than Sideshow. But I would say for a figure to sell at $170 and shoot up to $300+ as many of theirs do it has to be a small production number otherwise why wouldn't all of sideshows figures be worth $200+

My guess is Iron Man figures are probably around 2,000 each, something like Sweeney Todd is around 500 figures, the more expensive they get the less they make because fewer people will pre-order at those prices. Hopefully Hot Toys management realizes that they have to keep production small in order to keep charging those prices and keep their hard core collectors happy, I mean are you guys all going to continue to buy as many figures if they are $50 cheaper on ebay 6 months later (because they made too many?) even if you have no intention of re-selling them its nice to know they are worth X amount, isn't it? Also as someone else said if the demand is high after they make their 1,000 figures, they will just make another version, aka predator and iron man figures.

And as far as the recent Batman and Predator figures on sideshow, I doubt they have 5,000 of them or anything close to that, I bet its more like 1,000 BUT they are $240 EACH with shipping, that probably turned lots of people off, if they were $180 they would be sold out.

What do these boards represent? 5% of the market or less? How many of us buy these figures? Could get an indicator of how much these things sell, and that's not even including the asian market, which is said to be bigger than its north american counterpart. 5K+ without breaking a sweat for popular releases :lecture

I'd be willing to bet that some of the iron man figures are breaking the 5k unit mark.

V1. Joker had an ENTIRE second run produced JUST for DC direct to distribute.

I'd say the numbers are much higher than anyone expects.

this board only represents a fraction of the american collectors, and HT has become a worldwide phenomena.

If you think it's 500-1000 units, i really think you're just kidding yourselves.

Agreed- I'd say 3000-5000 units average, some may have been lower years ago when HT wasn't selling as much. These days I'd say 3000 MINIMUM for anything they do. Now new OC Batman, who knows?

as they get more popular, the unit size for each figure is going to go up.

hell, there was a time when sideshow had edition sizes of 10k +
