They did make a prototype didn't they...and it is a Predator, they do still occasionally release those, albeit at a snail's pace.

So there's more of a chance of this actually getting released than, say, the Alien Covenant Xenomorph which they just want people to forget they announced like many other things.

Still, you'd think they'd want to maximize its chances of selling well by at least putting it up for preorder with the release of the film. They really do their lower priority licenses no favours anymore.

Amazes me we've still yet to see a P1 2.0 in either 1/6 or 1/4 from them. Or a Dutch. Or a Big Chap. Those are characters that would sell no matter what film just launched.

Yep, my sentiments also.

I think it’ll get released. They still do Predators, just at a glacial pace as you mentioned. You’d just think that in order to try and maximize sales, they’d put it up for PO at the same time the film is in theatres when interest in the figure is likely at its highest.

It was the same thing with the 2 Terminator Genisys figures as I recall. The film had long left theaters - certainly in the case of the Endoskeleton.

It's like they're determined to prove that these licenses aren't the money makers they used to be by sabotaging their likelihood of success just so they can say 'we told you so'.

“The Predator” is by far my fourth favorite Predator film. Good action if not mildly confusing in the end when the big battle is happening. Good R rated humor. Horrible wig on the main actor at the end for what I’m assuming is the additional photography. And that ending in the lab should have happened to the main character and not some day player actor. Also, the kid character at the end totally forgot he was “on the spectrum.” B+ overall. I’d love to see the original cut on Blu Ray before Shane Black did the reshoots where the Predator was fighting with them. I’d rather see a new P1 at proper height and new Dutch than these new figures.

They basically did that with the classic predator figure from predators, it's technically not the jungle hunter predator but looks exactly the same

The way I see it is that the money I wasted seeing this movie, saved me from spending any money on collectibles for it.

Regardless of the MAJOR faults with the movie, we WOULD have bought stuff if the designs were any good.

But (for us) the designs were as bad as the script/editing etc. - so we won't be buying ANY collectibles from the movie (we even cancelled the 4 NECA preorders we had).

The Classic Predator is not much different than P1 and most people have modded theirs to make one. Dutch and Big Chap are the same exact quality that they make figures today. The only reason anyone wants 2.0s is because they're old and valuable now.

The longer it goes without a JH 2.0, the more I believe Classic was intended to also serve as a JH 2.0 being that the differences are minimal between the two. I believe that’s why they included the clean mask, despite Classic not having a clean mask in the film.

Same concept as JL Wonder Woman. Also meant to serve as a solo film Wonder Woman. Minimal differences in suit, included the black cloak despite her not ever wearing it in JL.

If they made a JH 2.0, they’d for sure just recycle the Classic Predator anyway. Perhaps repaint the body, the bio mask and parts of the armor, but they’d use most of the same parts. It’d basically just be the same as putting Classic Predator on that jungle themed base, since they’d reuse that as well.

HT knows that the release of a JH 2.0 would mean the end-game of their Predator line - however - fingers remain crossed.

Those are ten year-old figures. Big Chap is a flaky, inaccurate, dinosaur-headed disaster made of cheap rubber. Dutch's headsculpt lacks the sharpness and detail HT is now capable of and the body has a serious giraffe neck. Tailoring on the clothes could also use an update.

I was waiting for someone to respond to that.

'Big Chap' (much as I hate calling him that) and Dutch could be much better. Question is would Hot Toys actually make the necessary improvements. They clearly aren't big on accuracy with the Aliens so that aspect might see no improvement on a 2.0. Would they finally see sense and stop going with rubber bodies when the creature design easily facilitates traditional action figure joints is another big one. As for Dutch, they've never really nailed Arnold's likeness and in some cases have taken backward steps with it so, as ever, that would be up in the air. Body and clothes could be improved though.

And these are classic characters, why not put them back on the market every once in a while.

I think Dutch and the Tech Noir T-800 are the best Arnie likenesses they've done. Everything since has been a regression in one way or another.

Given Prime 1's recent announcement that their movie Aliens and Preds would be in 1/4 instead of 1/3 scale, I'm good whether HT revisit the licenses or not. As pricey as those suckers will be, it beats the paranoia of deterioration, paint flaking, and dust settling on the rubber. I can take those statues to the grave, which I can't exactly say for HT's products.

This is exactly what I meant by what I said. The Alien body would still be rubber and if you get a Tsang sculpt of the head who knows if it would be any more accurate. The old P2 kit head is still preferred over the newer City Hunter. The old man T-800 from Genisys and John Matrix aren't very good sculpts so that would be up in the air if new would mean better for Dutch.

Well, I'm not going down the statue road. It's funny, I don't do much reposing of my figures at all, so they might aswell be statues to me, but I just don't want actual statues.

Oh. I was thrown by this sentence then

The only reason anyone wants 2.0s is because they're old and valuable now.

I don't feel that this is the case. We want 2.0s but we want them to be genuine improvements. Value of older figures doesn't come into it at all. Most of us already have the old ones.

I have Dutch and I think a body change out is all it ever needed to improve. Still looks great. The recent Alien Warrior had a rubber body like the old Big Chap figure, so I don't think they'd make the wished improvements in that department.

The only time I feel this is the case is when you have newer collectors who missed out on the first figure, but want that particular character represented in their collection. An example of a figure like this is Bespin Luke Skywalker. Most of the people that are clamoring for a Bespin Luke 2.0 are ones who simply don’t want to pay the astronomical prices (I don’t blame them) of the DX07 on the secondary market; not because the figure genuinely needs 2.0 treatment. Sure there’s some areas that can be improved, such as the belt, but as an overall figure, I don’t see a 2.0 version of that being leaps and bounds better than the DX07.

That Iron Predator suit from the end of the film might rekindle Hot Toys' interest in pumping out figures for the franchise. They love their robot suits.
