That's UK for ya :slap To be fair, yesterday I discovered CDUK and that's where I ordered Gamora for £150 (I hadn't updated my geeky spreadsheet). I don't know what the other prices are - I daren't look :rotfl

In all fairness, exclusives are there to tempt you to order from a specific company. The additional item isn't a must have but is a 'nice to have'. With the exception of Star Lord. That orb. Must have!

It's there if you're willing to bend over and get shafted on the price. I'm willing to take the pain...

Why don't you order from space-figuren.de? They charge 50 euros less for the Rocket and Groot set compared to the UK price you quoted...

I know why exclusives are there, I'm just saying we don't get a fair chance at them and they know about it yet they continue with the exclusives.. it's like they don't care at all about European collectors.

You know you can avoid the Fed Ex fees completely by signing up for an account with them. They'll take the customs fee directly from your card sometime after delivery, and won't charge any administration fee.

It's worked for me for deliveries from Sideshow and from Hobby Link Japan. They just recognize your name and address and charge your card for the tax.

:lecture

Thanks for the tip, I'll go and register :)

Nice! Thanks, I'll take a look.

fair comment. On review of the CDUK prices I have updated my original post and the price difference is actually quite shocking. It's just a question of whether you want to suck it up or not :(

Instead of another potted Groot, I wished they threw in a EX item for Rocket. A Nova rifle from the prison scene would've been sweet.

Yeah that's 60 pound more for the exclusive in your case... for me it's 110 euro extra for the exclusive.

Given that it is an exclusive, you could probably make that money back if you ever sold it. I can't believe how much you guys ended up paying in addition to the inflated prices of the figures....its painful simply hearing about it

Baby Groot now exclusive or is that an additional baby Groot being an Ex?
Getting this from Sideshow would cost me an extra $US150, so ain't really worth the Ex.

Star Lord was my first order but I've done some research on it. You're looking at paying around 24.7% tax & duty on the total price of the order (including shipping). I've done my workings assuming shipping will be $40. My price comparisons are below, UK prices are the best I could find at the time and all prices include shipping and tax:

*Edit* Updated with CDUK prices. Wow.

Star Lord: SS import Price £204.28. UK supplier price £170
Gamora: SS import Price £177. UK supplier price £150
Rocket & Groot: SS import Price £297.14 UK supplier price £260

It's obviously slightly more expensive importing but you have to weigh up the pros and cons. When I ordered Groot & Rocket from SS I thought the dancing Groot was an exclusive. When I saw that all retailers were doing it I was a bit bummed as I'd paid the NRD. However, the armless Groot has made it all better :yess:

Thanks for the detailed answer, I appreciate all the info !
24.7 % ?! Didn't imagine it would be that much !
It makes quite a difference unfortunately, especially when you're talking about a 300$-ish collectible ...
The exclusives do make it hard to resist sometimes though ! (thank god that potted groot comes with every release, or else I probably couldn't have resisted, he's just too awesome ! :yess:)

For me importing the "exclusive" it's 360 dollars + shipping + custom fees + postal office handling fee. Say shipping is 50 dollars, I'm being generous considering this is a two-pack... so 410 dollars plus 30% in custom fees.. 533 us dollars.. plus the 15 dollars handling fee. 548 dollars! Just buying the regular edition in Europe is 300 euros (401 dollars) and luckily the shipping cost is included from the seller I'm buying from since it's over 250 euros, below that is about 15 euros which I have to pay for other figures like Star-Lord who is 220+15 euros, or 315 dollars, while the North Americans paid, what was it, 235 dollars for the exclusive? Pfff... talk about discrimination.

So yeah, I'm pissed over this exclusive BS and I don't appreciate the ones teasing me about it.

I'm in the same exact boat as you man, so I totally see where you're coming from.
These import fees really are stupid sometimes, which is a shame really because it prevents us from importing anything from overseas without paying the price for it ..
I guess it's just a question of luck (or the opposite in our case) that Sideshow is based in the US.
It's just a shame that they can't have a warehouse or something in Europe ..
And thanks for the site, I'd never heard of it before.
Those are some pretty decent prices based on European standards !
Ps : Love your signature picture ! :lol
