Johann Krauss and/or Prince Nuada are the top of my list for the next figures up. I want a Liz but if I didn't get one I wouldn't be too upset.

Okay some more pics, the lighting is a bit dodgy on a few of these. I had the settings on the camera screwed up and didn't feel like retaking all the pics.

Fantastic pics there, I so agree about Abe, Red is obviously the 'the main man' but Abe has actually managed to creep ahead in my affections. His articulation is just so good for posing, especially that neck design, you can get so much character from a simple head tilt!

HB actually has the same range of movement in the neck as Abe, on mine at least. It's just a bit stiffer so it can overcome the thicker rubber.

Since I barely took any pics of HB with Big Baby I took a gear photo.

Last week, I checked out the new Hellboy from Hot Toys, based on the second film. This week I'm looking at his aquatic pal, Abe Sapien, also produced by Hot Toys, and also based on Hellboy II.

I really like Big Red, but I've got to say that with Abe they really did an outstanding job on the sculpt and paint. In fact, if it weren't for some critical issues I ended up with on my Outfit, he would have managed a four star score. Still, he's well worth standing next to your Hellboy.

You can find all the reviews at the usual:

BTW, I DM'ed the winner of the Mer-man through Twitter last week, and haven't heard a thing back. Best check your twitter in case it's you, because if I don't hear by Tuesday, I'm going to select someone else.

Thanks for reading,

Michael

Thanks SS.

I was looking at some of the promo shots of Hellboy and the shots seem to imply that his arms should be able to move forward at the shoulder. The instructions clearly show they can only move back (which I had to struggle to do), move up to 90º at the shoulder, and bend 90º at the elbow. Some of the promo shots even look like the arm is swiveling at the shoulder which I definitely didn't think you could do.

Anyone have any luck with getting better range of movement out of the shoulders?

I reckon, for the price, the Sideshow Abe kicks alot of ass. He comes with two heads, has fins on the back of his legs, his whole body is blue. On the down side his boots are a rather undetailed rubber, has no wrist articulation, his neck is a little long and his suit is a material rather than a neoprene type costume. He's marginally taller than the Hot Toys version, by about a quarter to a third of an inch.

Yeah, the SSC one is taller and skinnier, which makes it a bit better already. The sculpt looks comparable too. Just the suit on the HT seems like a big improvement.

I beg to differ. (My SSC Abe is a little shorter btw since it was on a S2 body)

That last pic of Hellboy and Abe looks like Abe is being a clingy boyfriend.
