The fundamental is demand vs supply. If demand is there, why not re-issue it? Why do you want other making money on your products, and yet you have the power to keep it to yourself. The bottom line is "How to I maximize the profits?" Company is not making any money when re-sell value is insane. Company is making money by producing more products to the market. Do you know the most profitable products are products that have little to zero R&D cost. With that say, reissue is naturally should be priority to any companies, and Hot Toys is not the only company done this. Remember, none of their products have edition size, and they never guarantee or promise that their products will have higher re-sell value down the road. They only promise that they pledge is to the Shareholders, and their employees. If you want to make money, you should become shareholder or their partner instead of customers. It never makes any sense for me that their existence is to make money for consumers. Producers make money and consumers does not. The definition of Collect is bring or gather. The definition of Invest is to expend money with the expectation of achieving a profit.

I buy these figures because I like the character and/or figure representing them. I’m happy they are able to get this into the hands of more collectors who may not have had the funds at the time it was initially released. I waited for Endgame to see what they did with thor as the initial promo pics showed the same thor as IW. I would much prefer my money went to hot toys than a scalper any old day of the week. Good on them for reissuing this and the mk 50.

People are only complaining that they will be available again if they either paid way too much for the figure or wanted to make a lot of money off of it themselves.

This, but I also feel like some people just get off on knowing they have something that "sold out" and other people can't get it anymore, without the intention to flip.

Glad I got this already. Scored it on ebay under retail when Ebay had a 15% promo code. Same for Hela. Just like any other figure, it's more sought for after it sells out. I was gonna hold out on getting this to see how ED Thor will look, but I like the way IW Thor looks so I had to get it, plus he stole the show from the movie. Regardless, I still want a ED Thor as well.

hopefully there's a pill to help ED Thor out

Well that’s absolutely not true. I’m complaining and I bought my first one months ago on eBay for $200, and just got my second one (to also keep) from Sideshow at retail.

This thread is funny. :lol .... Just my worthless 2cents.. :)

HT is a business. They make "High End" collectibles for the masses. They have never announced numbers made. Nor I believe ever even called anything a one time only limited edition. They are simply limited to once they sell out. Which is any/most products made.. Ever. We have really no idea how many are out there accept on a small select number of pieces. It's all guess work and speculation. There could be thousands. These are in demand right now because of the all time high hype of the MCU. If/when the MCU & comic book movies slowly fade in general, these will be worthless. You'd be lucky to sell your special highly sought after rare dolly for the retail price you payed for it.

I don't remember Iron Man fans complaining this much when the new DC line was announced and HT were slowly remaking and releasing new updated versions of they're beloved super expensive and valued MkI-VII plastic dollies (I own 4 of them). That over night became worthless and **** when compared to the new super duper Die Cast best ever new figure that "I" can now own while you are stuck with your awful terrible plastic version that you will lose money on if trying to sell to upgrade to the new one (that "I" was just crying about it being no fair that new fans/collectors that missed out cannot own or being able to afford them on the aftermarket just yesterday)...

This is a forum to discuss a passion we share for collectibles. Specifically 1/6 dolls. We should be happy when our fellow collectors are able to secure a wanted figure at retail price as opposed to having to struggle with either paying inflated prices, or not being able to add it to their collection. I have yet to sell even 1 of my 1/6 dolls. Even my older SS figures, that at one time were highly regarded, valuable and sought after. And now are laughed at for their awful quality along with the fools who bought them.

"Who's the more foolish, the Fool, or the Fool that follows him"..

The backlash will be huge if HT ever re-releases the Iron Man MK47 Homecoming Armor. There will be rioting in the streets that my dolly is no longer "My Precious".

Lets enjoy our toys, and be happy for each other. :hi5:

Eventually we may be dorks, geeks, and losers again. Today is our day to shine with pride over our accepted hobby. Tomorrow may be another story and back in the closet we go.. :monkey3 ... :rotfl

We all understand "supply and demand" and that "Hot Toys is a business". Not everyone is "upset" because the value of a figure decreases - the value of these will crash once the MCU craze ends anyways. If you want to collect stuff that's "rare" - pony up some more money and buy statues with limited edition runs. Some are just slightly annoyed that they are re-releasing a figure that was available for 6 months after it started shipping from Sideshow and now other newer figures will be pushed back as a result. If Hot Toy's model is to start re-releasing figures that shoot up in value in the aftermarket, then we are going to get a ton of re-releases and the newer figures get delayed even more for every single re-release. That estimated release date you see gets bumped back. We're looking at 14+ months now from pre-order to figure release.

We might have to start being ok with stuff being 18 months to 2-years out.

As a DC fan we're already used to that, yo.

I pre-ordered this today with the expectation that I was going to have to buy a second sculpt with both eyes, but after seeing a lot of pics in this thread, it looks like this sculpt comes with the ability to remove the eye patch? Is this correct? Thank you in advance!

so 20 years? Cool.

I'll be close to retirement by then and will be ready to sell. Good to know!

Naw dude, it won't be all that long before the MCU and comic films in general start fading out of mass appeal. We are at the climax at the moment. It'll be a decline from here, but it may take a bit.

It will be just like when comics had a huge surge in the 90s and then went back to being a niche market before too long.

If you really want to sell figures like Yondu, Hela, Civil War Scarlett Witch, etc - the time is now.You won't come close to getting the same value (in todays dollars) on those 10 years from now. Especially when newer and better figures get released. We've also seen values on older Hot Toys figures nose dive as soon as a newer version is released.

Guys, we found James Cameron!

Yes, the patch is removable. It is not part of the head sculpt.

All things are cyclical. Do you really think that superhero films will be able to maintain box office supremacy for another 10 years? Not being negative, only realistic.

People were and are still buying up Michael Keaton's Batman, Christopher Reeve's Superman, Heath Ledger's Joker, among others. If a movie, character or genre has enough appeal to sell collectibles like Hot Toys and Sideshow has, you can bet they still will in years to come.
