Super bummed about them getting rid of the eye patch tbh. It was really cool, showed growth for his character and was an important part of his journey.. not to mention he was one step closer to King Thor.
same here but now i have to own this. I love thor with the eye patch so much more and this is the only ver to get him. So POed!

Saw the movie last night and preordered this figure this morning. If I had had more leisure money for putting down deposits I would've ordered like 2 or 3 more characters too but as I can only do one right now I chose Thor.

Good choice.
I can't decide to get Thor, SpiderMan or IronMan.

One first world problem I do kind of have now is...

I am a little bit of a sucker for screen accuracy, (although nowhere near as much as some of the guys in the Terminator boards who last I read used to pick on every little incorrect detail)... so, to eye patch, or not to eye patch.. lol

The eye patch is a nice variation to other versions of Thor, but he was much more beastily dominating with the whole armour and cape look with the Stormbreaker..

The eye patch on the figure is removable, correct?

Initially I had no intention of getting this as I already had 4 Thor's. Still glad I skipped on Gladiator Thor & even the Road Worn Thor. But after seeing IW this morning, I must admit I think I want this version now too. :slap

Thor was soooo bad *** in this. Even more so than in Ragnarok... :yess:

I don't get

why he lost the eye patch. The yellow eye makes him look weird. Eye patch made him look badass. Hemsworth said they just CGI'd the patch, so it's not like it was an annoyance to him. Probably got feedback that the ladies would rather him be without it.

it being CG would be a good reason to ditch it. Would save thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours for

Because it costs money

It's called an editing table and deleted scenes. Every movie has those.

Haha

Don't think they decided to just edit the Hulk out. That's entire sequences. Hemsworth or someone decided he needed to show his face without the patch. Not cause "it costs money".

With that budget, an eye patch is nothing. Looks at all the stuff

that was in the trailer that was not in the movie. That cost way more money.

Just because other stuff costs lots of money doesn’t mean they couldn’t change something else that costs money and requires a two second explanation. Happens all the time. And as I said, it’s not just money. It’s time. Less time spent rendering one thing that can then be spent on something else. Ever cut out something cheap like Soda or McDonald’s or whatever to help offset the cost of somthing expensive? Films do it all the time as well. Get rid of Terrence Howard because he wants a million more dollars then bring in Cheadle who ends up making more anyone one film later, in a film with a 200 million dollar budget that they also spend 100 million more on marketing.

As for the trailer stuff...almost every big budget movie has lots of stuff from the trailer left out. They shoot for 8-12 hours a day, often with two crews or more, for months to make a 3 hour movie. 99% of what they shoot and render ends up cut. So if they can choose to use one line of dialogue that makes it so they don’t have to worry about CG and post on one of the main characters for over half the movie which saves everyone time and money good chance they take it.

I thought Thor was great in the movie. Excited to have preordered this one.

Agreed. He was the mutha f'in MVP of the entire movie. I was kinda on the fence about picking him up, but now he's a done deal!

Hats off to the Russo's who gave Thor the Cap treatment, who went from being super lame to super bad *** in TWS. (I'm not saying Thor was ever lame...but he never stood out either, but after IW he's def moved up for sure.)

Russo's? No love for Taika?

I only saw Ragnarok once and honestly did not enjoy it that much. For a movie about the end of Asgard it was a bit too colorful and comical for my liking. There were never any stakes whatsoever.

I think I'll enjoy it more on my second viewing. Didn't really care for GOTG Vol. 2 in theaters...saw it again on Netflix and I enjoyed it. I'd imagine I'll have a similar experience with Ragnarok the second time around.

In the trailers, they also had the eye patch in scenes that were after he got the eye from Rocket in the final cut... It's the reverse of what they did with the Ragnarok trailers. One set of trailers tricks us by not giving away that Hela took his eye out, the next tricks us into not giving away that he gets an eye back. In both cases they are pretty significant character spoilers..

But I was waiting for some important significance to come with his new eye.. I don't know the comics, but in the comics didn't his new eye give him some extra abilities or something?
