Trying to figure out which Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III to buy. I was told the original looks closer to the movie than the new battle damage.

Any thoughts or comments from people that have both on which they prefer and why.

well you could always buy the reg and then when you get bored with it, just smash it and then you'd have the battle damaged version.
so basically you're getting 2 for 1.:hi5:

you can thank me later, just glad i could help out.:peace

BD is way to go its a 2 in 1 and there is no smashing involved... ^^^ I have BD he looks way cooler then the V1 Mark III... Lots of people have sold V1 just to buy BD on here...

I say get the battle damaged. The shoulder missles, the flares around the hips, and the gauntlet he uses at the end of the movie were all put in for the battle damaged version. Also the battle damaged uses metallic paint, which looks much better then the original. :yess:

I have both of them. The BD version is actually red, while the reg one is more of a maroon color IMO. I also like the shoulder rocket launchers and the helmet that can open on the BD version.
I can't put my finger on it, but that head looks weird to me when the helmet is closed. If I was in your shoes, I would buy both if you can afford it. If I could only chose one, I would get the BD version because it has the same accessories as the reg MKIII, plus some extra items.

I sold my V1 Mark 3 to buy the BD, I saw my friends and my jaw dropped, I am a sucker for the flip up mask, I never got the mark 2 so this is very cool to me. There is just so much more you get with the BD, no one has said that the flaps on the back are a nice touch with real metal. Hands down a much better figure IMHO.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I am on the fence since I like the clean look of the original. I know the BD version has an undamaged plate and helmet (to make it look sort of clean), but I am wondering if the scratches put the BD out of place when you put it beside the mark I, II and the mark IV (when it is released.)

well if you check out the hall of armor from the film, you will see that Mark 3 is battle damaged. There wasnt really a good scene where Mark 3 was in it's pristine look in the first movie. So I say it will fit well with the rest. The only Pristine armor should be Mark 2.

yep, just did the same thing myself. No regrets. BD is the one to own

I got the Mark I, II and III regular. I passed on the BD but now want one. I went on the waitlist a few weeks ago (I think after watching IM2 on the release day) for the sideshow ex. BD. What's the chance of it being converted? Have people gotten their BD IM from SS yet?

All the features aside its the paint job on this figure that outdoes the original m3!
Get the BDM3!

Unless it's for the EX, you're better getting it elsewhere since it seems to be in stock at a lot of places. If it is the EX, then I'm not sure, I got on the WL back in March and I really doubted it would convert so I just canceled it last week when I picked up the BD. Plus, I really wouldn't have cared for the crushed helmet much anyway

Yeah its for the EX. Where'd you get your BD from? Ebay? How much are they going for now?

But you need the Cruched helmet!!!! Like the Tumbler just mistakenly drove over it :D
If I manage to get it I will defeinetely setup a shot where the Tumbler drove over and Tony is like reaching for it like NOOOOOOO with this glassy look, almost having a tear in his eyes and then Batman looking out and like "you should know better not to leave your helmet in my path"
But yeah IMBD has the more accurate color tone and finish. Saw the MIII on display and did not like the plastic colored maroon .. keep in mnid the V1 being colored plastic the torso faded in color on many of them so definetely a turn off

:lol Yes I need that crushed helmet. You don't need to convince me on this one. You would expect V1 to drop in price after the release of the BD, why haven't it? It has to have a plus about V1 which the BD don't have.

well V1 did dropp in price quite a bit in the used market before the official release. Then ppl realized the V1 has more accurate proportions (chest/torso and neck) so the demand went back up a bit raising the prices again. But neck can be modded but chest/torso is not quite moddable but you can hide it a bit when you position the figure properly

Thanks for the info, I was thinking if I should sell my V1 for the BD. I guess I'll keep it then regret it later on.
