No, just a custom head from a fellow member that some people turned into a figure just as good as a normal release.

Yep... Nien Nub would be a custom, like any Lando that was accurate to his appearance in the cockpit.

The cockpit of the Falcon will always be cool but as a giant canister to display 12 inch figures in? Kinda weird IMO.

Yeah, it is a bit odd looking in that regard. Just in the small amount of research I've looked into on the Falcon the shape of the cockpit changes quite a bit depending on what model they are using:

Kind of looks like they used more of the shape of the 5 foot model... which is a bit boxier looking to me.

Yes but what if it can be wall mounted and the windows are plastic / glass. That would make for an insane display piece. I dont know if it can be wall mounted but I am hopeful.

If it can be wall mounted and the top opens up like the toys do, either to the side or completely back so you can look down inside and add/remove figures, that would be really cool. But you would lose the cool display possibility of it being able to be turned around to see from the back, if it was wall mounted. I think the best mounting options now is on a floating shelf, so one day it can fall and shatter to pieces like your dreams when you saw the HT Chewbacca production piece.

Clearly it went past several sets of eyes and Okayed all the way down the line. And now a sudden change of heart? They really are watching. *looks around* That's creepy. Well they didn't take the original photos, but clearly either saw it on their own (which wouldn't surprise me) or cropped the images after the fact.

Yep. Hot toys has people on staff whose sole job is "market research". That surf the web(forums, fan sites, Facebook,YouTube) to gauge interest. They don't/can't/won't say who they are as they can't officially speak on the prt of the company. Every official statement has to be approved by legal and PR at hot toys and the license holder, as to not damage the "brand".

This doesn't mean spamming drax in every thread will get drax faster. Logistics are logistics. But it does mean they are aware of trends and overall sentiment and statements. It's only a small part of the process, but still a part.
