Don't forget Cannibal Jack Sparrow king throne, Armie Hammer Lone Ranger, and Drax to name a few more. LOL

It would be an instant buy for me too. So many display options but it would most likely be a QC nightmare!

I really hoped that this would be up for preorder by now. This being a beloved star wars icon, I still think we may see it go up this year. It would sell very well I think, unlike some of the other stuff that was teased only to never appear again.

Yes, one assumes the cockpit has a greater chance of seeing release because the HT Star Wars figures appear to have been BIG hits with collectors - and so there is a very firm commercial justification to release it (particularly with the franchise hitting top speed from this point on). One could argue that the other releases routinely cited as MIA (Batmobile '66, etc.) don't have that singularly broad commercial appeal, or previous sales in each respective line were soft.

Throw in the fact that now we'll have TFA figures as options to display inside as well.

Rey with Chewie
Rey with Han (eventual release, I'm sure)

And can have Finn standing by the door, as well.

This will definitely be an automatic pre-order for me.

oh damn, didn't even think about that! Rey and Chewie would be a killer display idea. Nice @flyandfight

I think this has good chance of being released. HT knows Star Wars fans are crazy when it comes to collectibles, this will sell well and might even attract SW model kit collectors.

8-900 is probably what I would expect. 1k or higher and you would probably be pricing too many potential buyers out. I think there is an added mental hurdle to jump over when forking out a grand+ for a toy, even for collectors who can easily afford it.

Already putting money aside for this and if it's never released (which would be a bloody shame) I'll have money for other collectibles. I am kinda hoping it sells well and HT expand on it
corridor section to roll up hatch and staircase to upper gunner station
and the main hold area with Han & Leia snog cupboard

This will attract the attention of the high-end "ship" collectors such as those that collected the Master Replicas pieces and the DeAgostini Falcon. Even if they don't collect 1/6th scale figures, the cockpit itself, well detailed and lit up will "call to them..."

In my case, I subscribe to the DeAgostini Falcon and having the cockpit displayed near it will make for an amazing display.

As far as cost goes, I previously mentioned that my guess would be around the $800 dollar amount (MSRP). I would obviously want to pay less but based on the latest "big item" releases from Hot Toys, that's my guess. It's a significant amount for sure.

I think if HT could mass produce this to sell with a retail price of $800 it would have been announced already. They know there's some interest but they know that declines rapidly as the price increases. At a certain price point there's no reason to make it. If they could only make it for $1500 for example, there's no point, it doesn't fit with their typical volume goals. So while it's possible to make something amazing as a one-off or even a small batch by hand, it's another matter entirely engineering a product for a production line. Maybe some day it'll be available, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Given HT figures are now hitting $300 each ($400 outside of the US), I think $1,000 is likely for any Falcon display. There's a much wider base for Star Wars collectors right off the bat, and given the selling out of the Original Trilogy HT figures (that have only been released in the past 2 months!) I'd suggest the market is ready for it. As FlyandFlight insightfully noted above, the emphasis upon the Falcon in the new films only increases its display appeal and desirability.

Sure, we don't want to pay these kinds of prices, but given that collectors appear to have been willing to part with serious cash for the OT figures (in such a short space of time), costly dioramas/display sets would surely be under consideration by HT. And with 2 new Star Wars films arriving in the space of the next 18 months, the franchise hype-o-drive (see what I did there?) will be pumping out at full speed.

Agree.

It's all about the mix of demand with return (margin). Whereas the '66 Batmobile might have have been possible in terms of production cost and margin, the demand would likely not have driven the required volume. If the Falcon Pit is stalled, I'd say it was very likely that it's mix is exactly the opposite of the Batmobile.

Perhaps their plans have changed, but I don't think that they would have made the headsets if they didn't fully intend to release this.

I think this has been relegated to the hot toys dustbin where it joins the likes of aliens ripley, alias from platoon, the lone ranger, drax from gaurdians, marty mcfly part 2 and delorean part 2, smooth criminal michael jackson, barbarossa from pirates, neytiri from avatar, the batmobile 66 and robocain.

I so want this. So many possibilities for display. Han and Chewie (ANH.) Han, Chewie, Farmboy Luke, and Old Ben. Old Han and Rey. Rey and Chewie. Old Han, Chewie, and Finn, etc.

Possibly, but the headsets are an easy accessory to make. Personally I would prefer a gunner station.
