Not for me bub! Any sign of a joint sends these things straight into toy-ville IMO. Otherwise they look damn near real. Next time HT should do the painted rubber, but with the concealed joints like Dutch,

That just contradicts the function and purpose of them being figures though. Joints showing isn't the most aesthetically pleasing thing, but the functionality it offers the overall piece enhances it's value as a figure. If you spend too much work on making joints hidden and losing their range of movement for it, you get close to just making a statue.

I hate the Dutch and other muscular bodies because of how limited their poses are compared to regular figures, sure they look better, and back in the day it was acceptable because there weren't hard plastic bodies with real anatomy shapes. Now you get the Wolverine and T2 body, a hybrid of the posability of a regular base body and the aesthetics of a muscle body. I think it's a great design and offes the best of both body types in a nice package.

I take it you don't do much in the way of posing of your figures then. Those Dutch arms and the waist are too limiting for me - I really wanted to replicate the classic Predator film poster pose with that figure and its pretty much impossible to do. I came close once but had to box the figure back up and now I can't get it back the way I had it and it does bother me. And Wolverine is a character who demands greater poseability. I'm sure you've heard that argument countless times already. Its all very subjective - I hate ugly joints myself - I just think these ones are as inoffensive as you could get so I deal with them.

You do realize the name is Hot TOYS. :lol

articulation > asthetic fragile muscle bodies

Why just buy statues?

I think Hot Toys are the most ironically named company in the world. A lot of their products are certainly not toys.

Either way I like to pose my figures and HT are doing there best to fight the articulation vs look.

And i totally disagree about Mckellen not having presence, Him, Jackman, and Stewart are the only ones that have the ability to send shivers with their performances. He was absolutely bad ass as Magneto.

Tyler Mayne, Ray Park, James Marsden and Halle Berry send shivers too, shivers of shame every time they are on screen.

Liev Sabertooth and Grammar's Beast are two characters from pretty weak overall moves but they both were great enough in their respective roles to earn a purchase from me if offered up

I own Dutch. A nice figure but the lack of articulation due to the rubber body kills the figure. They are toys therefore, the appearance of joints etc. does not bother me. Wolverine's new body even with joints is rather well-done from a "toy appearance".

My post regarding McKellen stated he was pivotal in the films but a stand alone action figure I am not sold. Without knowing HT plans with the Marvel license, I hope they provide more "baddies" than Magneto (assuming he is in their line-up).

While I too feel the presence of joints takes away from the asthetics, I think the Wolverine and T-2 bodies are good compromises. Not to mention that I'll probably leave the jackets on.
That being said, I'm not sure I would of have liked the Dutch arms if they had joints. (Since that's a figure I prefer to display sans jacket.) Yes, it has limited poseability, but it still has enough poseability (and layers/accessories) to differentiate it from a 1/6th statue IMO.

I like the ability to pose these as opposed to the statue or premium format too but what's the point of having realism down to seeing the detail in every pore if there is going to be really awkward looking toy joints all over the place. I head that argument that they have "toys" in the name so why not have joints like toys? I never payed 200 dollars for toys when I was a kid, name aside, these are not toys.

I think Dutch has a decent range of motion personally, whatever they are doing with King Leonidas seems to be working, if its rubber it has damn good movement. I have a feeling HT is going to figure out a way to make both work and Wolverine is going to look pretty silly in a years time with all the visable joints.

Today I had my first and hopefully last Wolverine break. The smaller loop on the dogtag chain came apart. It looks like it was really weakly soddered together or something because I see no connector. A solid crazy glue fixed it, it seems nice and solid again, you can;t really tell where i glued it together either.

And it could be preference, but aside from Mystique who was pretty cool IMO, every other bad guy that appeared in the move other than Mags and Origins Sabertooth was a big bucket of cheese. Mckellen's magneto was one of the coolest bad guys of the decade IMO. He would have to come with two heads w and w/o helment and a loose helmet. It would also be amazing if he came with a white prison outfit and a plastic chess set!

I'm really curious to see what the figures of the future will be like. I'm new to the hobby so I have very little hands on experience, but from what I've seen of the figures from even a couple of years ago are pretty weak in the sculpt and detail department. I'm not saying they are all bad, but compared to the figures that a lot of people complain about they don't even come close. I'm from the hide the joints school of thought. This doesn't mean all rubber bodies either, just keep them hidden. I have wolverine on order and I wont know how to display him till I get him in hand but I really like the direction Hot Toys is headed. I hope they will get to the point where we can have full poses and still have them joints hidden. From what has been shown so far this looks like what they are trying to achieve.

Sorry but...
They are,nt Toys : 1/6 Action figures,or ADULT Collectibles sound better, and talking about Joints..well if they have,nt joints they would de STATUES.
The rubber bodys look fine but they are very fragile and the rubber will deteriorate over the years.
For example, the elbow joints are a real crap ;the articulation is a bendable metal piece wich would break easily if you move certain number of times.

Wolverine joints are not very visible but personally I like this new body 100000000 times than regular muscular bodies because shows the almost perfect balance between aesthetic and functionality, besides that the texture and appearance are more realistic than rubber bodies.
Elbow, shoulder joints are fine for me.

Do not take it personally, but if you do,nt like "joints" you should try with the STATUES then. (premium format for example)

Well I think Hot Toys agrees with us hidden joint guys because that seems to be what they are moving towards. To me it looks as if they are trying to hide or cover the joints on most of the new figures that are coming out. Besides no one is saying "no joint" just try and find a way to make them not so glaring. And fortunately that is what they are doing. Go Hot Toys!

That's what's good about the Wolverine T2 body. It may not seem like it to some people, but those bodies are the current evolution.

HT started with a muscle body for Rambo, while it looked nice, it had limited posability, and the means of bending the elbow is a thin piece of metal that posed enough, will snap.

Then they evolved to the Dutch body, where Shoulder articulation was always pretty limited on earlier muscle bodies, it was better on Dutch, but shoulder improvement wasn't enough, especiall as beefy as his body is, you can pose it, but there aren't many natural gun wielding poses it can achieve.

So finally, we reach the Wolverine T2 body. Hot Toys says ok, people like plastic bodies to look as little like plastic figures as possible, but our muscle bodies aren't as posable, so let's devise a body that combines the aesthetic quality of our muscle bodies with the functionality of our regular True Types, and walla.

The joints may be more visible than a muscle body, but the quality of the new one is better because it has the best features of both body types in one package.

:lecture

but what's next?

The only place left to go is finding some way to completely encase a fully jointed plastic body within a rubber outter shell that looks like a real body, but made from a material that stretches enough to not hinder any poses and durable enough you don't rip it posing the body around.

I recall reading sometime ago at OSW (I think) a company uses silicon to make such figures. I don't know the durability of silicon or how accurate the piece I read about it being the "next thing". I know everything evolves so will the sculpts / bodies used for this hobby. HT has done alot to progress the hobby, time will tell what is next.

All that said, the new sculpted body used for Wolverine is absolutely wonderful in my book. HT raised the bar once again.

:lecture and I still love Dutch, one of my favorites! I really don't move them all around so the posing really doesn't pertain to me, it's more of a one style pose and then I'll display 1/6 for some time, everyone once in a while I'll switch something up like an accessory or the style of clothing.

I'm mainly a statue collector so I guess I get my vices for both sides as action figure and then polystone that actually doesn't move at all.
