I don't know. I'm somewhere in the middle on this one. I'm a huge Terminator and Hot Toys fan, so naturally ANY Hot Toys Terminator combination is a must for me. I WILL be getting this guy.

However, with that said, I still think something is a bit off on this one so I understand the criticisms I'm seeing. I can't put my finger on it. Without the sunglasses the portrait around the eyes, cheekbone and mouth look strange. Too many wrinkles, lines, glossed texture or something. I've seen members here claim that it looks too old, to me it looks a bit rough. I don't know like Yuli and Hot Toys were more determined with the sculpt looking more life like than an actual portrait of Arnold himself. Haha, here I am complaining that a toy looks TOO real.

Arnold is there all right, there's no doubt about that but from what I've seen in pics and videos it could be a little bit better. I'm not going to lie either, I HATE the neck joint on this one. I really wish it was just a solid head sculpted to the neck post instead of two separate pieces. Yeah, it limits range of motion but it looks much better in my opinion. From the shirt collar to the head it's just off slightly.

It's also worth noting that I have NO idea what this guy is like in hand. I thought the pictures from other collectors of Harvey Dent, Two-Face and the Cop Joker looked HORRID. Like a really weird flesh tone and a really crappy soft sculpt (the opposite of this hard, rigid sculpt on the T-800 here). But once I had the three of them in hand they were absolutely perfect and on par with everything I owned.

So needless to say I'm very excited to finally get this amazing figure in the coming weeks. I highly doubt it will be the best Hot Toys figure yet (come on guys, we say that about every LATEST figure) but I do think it will be one of their best. Between NECA and Hot Toys these are the Terminator figures I've always wanted.

Bring on the T-1000 and 1984 T-800 I say!

I actually think it could be. I haven't seen it in hand yet but based on the photos I've seen ( ecspecially Snake's in the detolf ) it just looks way to real. :google Although most hot toys figures look awesome there is usually something that makes you realise how small it is or simply the fact that it's a figure. With this it can actually be a struggle if you don't already know.

I mean look at that , for a figure straight out of the box it is very very impressive. It seems to have zero problems so it's a winner for sure.

The biggest problem is he looks too young, like 25 on the photos

The Hot Toys figure? I don't see that, if anythign, I think he often looks older than he should in photos. The sculpt is right to have some of the wrinkles it does, but the way some shots have them lit, the effect looks like he's older. This sculpt definitely strikes me as one that under the proper lighting will work just right but with the wrong lighting, can do some really harmful stuff to how it looks.

That's the fun of photography, everything has a way to shoot it to flatter it and ways to shoot it that do it injustice, and I have fun taking the journey to finding the ways to flatter my subjects.

I haven't got him in hand yet DiFabio but I'm still thinking that he could be Hot Toys'best figure yet.

Tis totally fair to say that folks say "this is the best Hot Toy yet" about lots of figures.
But looking at this Arnie in the movies on this thread and seeing all of his super fine trimmings.
In terms of executing a figure based on a movie character, I do think this is indeed Hot Toys' piste de resistance!! :)

I've shown this to a friend who thinks it's damn near perfect and he doesn't think alot of my hot toys stuff is that great. :monkey2:lol The waist on the iron man he noticed instantly.

As much as we all apprecaite the photos here your basing your opinion on a blurry photo with the head tilted down. Do you still get the same impression from the other photos ?.

I want to see Maulfans. :rock I almost get more excited for him to get these figures than me. :lol

I often think that pictures can make the figure look 10 times worse than when you actually have it in front of you.

Appreciated, I was getting some pretty good stuff out of my 7" NECAs last night and the whole time I was thinking, man, what I can do with the Hot Toys one if these figures are looking so nice. The beauty is, this is also fully posable so my options are much more open. I've got plans, just need the stupid figure to finally ship :lol I was driving earlier and thinking about bike shots with this figure and how I can do things to look even cooler than my bike shots with Wolverine. Between my own past work and the shots of others, I'm always trying to push what I do.

It happens, unless you're really into photography or have really nice equipment, you're bound to get stuff that doesn't flatter the piece, but, not everyone sharing pictures is trying to do anything with their photos but show the world how excited they are to have it, they're not trying to make anything artsy or worrying about the presentation and that's all good. In reality, the manufacturers should provide sufficient enough photos to know how good the piece can look, and a fair representation, not using photos to make it look better than it is or anything. It shouldn't be up to collectors to sell things with their shots, though it works out that way sometimes.

selectiv, can you post in the NECA thread and stop clogging this thread with criticisms about Hot Toys in general and how if it's not 18" it no good?

No, on most Photos ive seen he looks to young, something is wrong with the likeness.

I have trouble using the term "best" for anything. Like I said I'll probably feel very passionate about the figure once I own it and probably rank it above the rest, but it's a spur of the moment kinda thing. A hype situation.

Like I said in my previous post, there's no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best, but surpassing MMS DX Joker and some of HT other work? Can't do it. Like with the films, each figure has it's own unique feeling of nostalgia and quality that the other does not have.

It's kind of like children, but obviously less serious and less important. Like when the inevitable T-1000 and Battle Damaged T-800 come out, are we going to be like, "oh that old MMS 117 was a thing of the past! These new ones are much better." That's one of the reasons I have a hard time understanding people that are eager to sell an "inferior" or "obsolete" figure when a better one comes out.

I still love my MMS 02 Battle Damaged T-800, my first Hot Toys collectible. Yeah, it's definitely not as good as this T2 model but it has history and character to it. Am I going to sell it if a T1 version comes out? Hell no.
