Yup. Iron Man will be forgotten about. Terminator, won't.

Iron Man first debuted in March of 1963 in Tales of Suspense #39. Terminator in the first film in 1984. I believe Iron Man has stood the test of time pretty well. It won't win any oscars and I'm not trying to take sides here (T2 being my favorite movie of all time) but I can't agree with the Iron Man being forgotten part.

An nobody new about him all that time untill a Iron Man movie came out in 2008 and turned out to be pretty good. Before that, Iron Man was just known as a Black Sabbath song.

IMO Iron Man is big today because of the films. I wouldn't have shown interest if the films were never made, but thats just my spin on the series.

Terminator however has had such a cult following for such a long time :borg

In terms of what Hot Toys is doing, Terminator has a much longer standing fandom and support for their product. If HT were doing Iron Man comic-based figures, might be another story, but where they deal with films, Terminator's very likely got the edge that people willing to buy the figures today will also being willing to at any time, they're for products based on it whenever the come. Iron Man on the other hand, I'm not sure if you put out these figures a year from now or later, if there'd be as much interest, people would be to into the current flavor of the month at that time and putting their money towards that and have moved on.

It's awesome how easily some can be roped into a such an inconsequential debate.

T2 already had its time to shine in terms of collectibles and toys. IM2 has the spotlight right now.

More buttons popped out of my jacket today.

Well, if they keep making movies like T3 and Salvation, people will want to forget about Terminator. Just sayin.

They having nothing to do with T1 and T2 so no people wont be forgeting Terminator any time soon... I like to forget T3 but Terminator Salvation was ok... I have a few figures form that movie...

I just want to highlight some spots on the jacket where you might lose some button holes. It might not happen to most, and it's a fairly insignificant detail, but just a head's up:

The little silver button holes can be popped out, and a couple on mine fall out easily. I caught them and glued them back in.

I'm really eager to see this in hand, a lot of shots make the head seem a bit small to the body, but all of your stuff makes it look perfect.

It's really just the jacket collar that was throwing off his appearance. When the photos started showing up from the HK collectibles forums, my impression of the tailoring and bulk on this figure was not positive. But now that's pretty much a non-issue.

However, it does make me think that the collectors on Toys Daily and Toy World either don't care about screen accuracy or they just don't know any better. Or perhaps it's me who's a bit too ____ about these details. :lol

edit: what, I can't type an.al? geez.

It's really not the collar for me though, just the whole width of the body looks huge in most photos but yours, can't image the collar affects how wide out his arms are, but maybe.

I think it does affect the perception that much. Plasmid can't have changed anything else except bringing in the coller and thus bringing the 2 sides of the jacket closer together. So much of the body underneath is exposed on the fresh-from-box figure, it just looks wrong. Thankfully it seems to be an easy fix.

Yeah, I'm not totally blinded that I've convinced myself that fixing the collar completely reshapes the proportions of the figure to look 100% like the on-screen T800, but perception and angles really play into getting the figure to look closer to the film. That and altering how the collar sits really does change how the entire upper torso and shoulder area looks. At least, to me it does. I find it acceptable enough that I don't need to do any further modding. The figure is fantastic as it is.

Well honestly if no one knew about him then why did so many people bother to go see it? And if you're right that nobody knew about him but went to see it anyway because it was actually a really good movie then doesn't that mean that it will not be forgotten?

I totally agree with the Terminator part. And honestly I used to hate the Iron Man/Tony Star character. But I really doubt we can speak for everyone out there. I'm not saying that Iron Man was big before the movie and honestly it wasn't. But I'm just saying that he's a character that's stood the test of time and wasn't just killed off and was never brought back like the thousands of other Marvel characters over the years.

I'm getting a new apartment and I will have Endoskulls and T2 movie posters in my "awesome" section of the living room. Doubt I'll have an Iron Man poster. :D

Well you know, going back to some of the early photos, I think it might be the whole opening and collar that makes the difference. It seems like what happens is when the opening is wide, it still looks right as a jacket, so then his head relative to the opening seems like it's undersized, but when you close it more, the jacket seems more in proportion to the head. Interestingly optical illusion going on.

Because it was a good movie and word of mouth got around. Nothing to do with it being the Iron Man character.
