question guys, not sure if it's one that has already been explored

I was toying with the idea of getting Coulson as i now intend to get all of the Avenges, in fact, there's only Widow who i need to put any money down on, and i was reluctant about her as i'm not the biggest fan of that figure

however, to have every avenger but widow would be silly

I also have Fury as i consider him the leader (not on the field, that's Cap!)

and then this left me pondering about Coulson, is he an avenger, should I have him with my Avenges team? I mean he's techincally dead now (or not, jeez, i dunno)

What are you guys thinkng, believe it or not the opinions of folks on this board may sway me one way or the other on this one

ta!

Whilst it is true that, technically, Coulson was not an Avenger strictly speaking, he was totally active and integrated in the forming of the core group. He certainly spent a great deal of time with Stark, Cap and Thor (to the extent of standing guard over Cap as he slept, and of moving Jane Foster to a safe place during the Chitauri war). He might not have worn a costume (at least, not yet...) He could easily punch clearly above his weight. And he was so well played by Clark Gregg, as a brave but quiet, modest but efficient man, who fought his enemy with his last breath.

As a character, Agent Phil Coulson earned his place amongst the Avengers...until we see him again. Likewise on my 'Avengers Collection' team. I think that he will look great.

Theory....At the start of THE AVENGERS, Stark pretends to be a Life Model Decoy of himself. Later in the film, Stark is talking to Coulson about flying him to Geneva the reasons for which I could not make out.

Instead of Coulson coming back as an LMD...What if the real Phil Coulson is still alive after being flown to Geneva, and the Coulson that is killed is already an LMD?

I think they were referring to Coulson seeing someone a cellist from... Portland I think? Stark made a reference to keeping the love alive when talking about flying him someplace. When Cap asked if he was married Stark just said "I think there was a cellist" or something like that anyway.

No matter WHAT story they come with about Coulson still being alive, it will be poorly done and will make plotholes.

He died. Nick Fury was on his knees by him till his last breath went out of him.

This is just something they planned after the movie and it defeats his death. I love him as a character but it really defeats the purpose of his death in the first place.

But this is the Marvel Universe and no one ever truly dies forever in it.

Oh no, I quite agree. For the character's death to actually mean something, he should really stay dead. Absolutely.

Sadly, as you say, this is the world of MARVEL, Hollywood implausibility, and sequels...So I have no doubt that he will be seen again.

Stark was offering the Stark Industries Supersonic Jet to whisk Coulson away to see the female Cellist(It was a follow on from the faint conversation between he and Pepper at the beginning when she asks how he and the cellist are doing. He says it didn't work out and that she moved back to portland). Stark walks in talking to Coulson(It's the "Loki's mind is a bag full of cats" scene) and his exact words are: "So. I'm just saying, take a weekend, i'll *fly you* to portland... She'll love that"

Yay! Now ****ing cast Enver Gjokaj in a major role already. I have to think he doesn't want to act much. After Dollhouse I can't believe he didn't get a bunch of work.

I'm pretty sure they have officially stated the SHIELD show takes place after Avengers.

He was ****ing phenomenal in Dollhouse.

How would they explain him being in Avengers Assemble?

His role was fleeting enough in Avengers he could play a different character… or hell you could put him on the SHIELD show as an ex-NYC cop who after the invasion in NYC he joined SHIELD.
