The Keaton body spin was always just part of the character to me. As a child I thought nothing of it.

Sure, in reality not being able to turn your head would be a disadvantage but in a fantasy world I was able to believe that this was all part of his intimidation - it actually made him seem hyper-alert.

Yeah, as a kid it just made him seem more Batman-y. Doing Batman-y things.

And this impression actually carried on into Nolan's films - I like the Batman Begins costume where he also couldn't turn his head and I despise the TDK/TDKR suit where he can - it just looked off to me.

I enjoyed the first couple of Nolan films for what they were, and think they made an enormous contribution to getting niche material into mainstream popular culture, but they don't do much for me stylistically. I'm still stuck on Returns -- I appreciate the weirdness.

To be fair Keaton had more of a challenge with his Batsuit. The Begins suit while having limitations at least has a better fitted cowl where the 89 cowl was more of a hood and fits loosely.

Agree with the kicking, punching, crouching etc but I don't mind that he has no head movement, it would almost look off if we could turn his head to the sides,
I think that's why I've never really like the Premium Format version.

I hope HT revisit this or the 89 suit in 1/4 scale. They've done Bale and Ledger in that scale so why not Keaton and Nicholson next?

Yeah I also hope they revisit the returns Batman in 1/4 scale. I had to pass on both 1/6 because of the worthless PERS panel.

The 1/6 scale Batman Returns figure doesn't have PERS. I think the chance of them making a 1/4 scale version is almost none.

Not PERS but basically a similar system. Just there’s a joystick for each eye to move individually. Either way I thought this figure looked a lot better in terms of how that was handled compared to the DX09. The part of the cowl that comes off is more flush with the the rest of the sculpt.

However it's achieved I do like being able to move the eyes or at least switch them out like the Batfleck figures. If the QS009 doesn't allow any movement of the eyes it will be somewhat disappointing.

*Very* nice. I just got a custom Returns cape from Jaxon (thanks!) that I'm very happy with. The stock cape is quite good and better than '89, but still won't drape as effectively as the Jaxon cape.

I hate the fact that Hot Toys seems to go out of their way to cater to the extreme minority way too many times. I don't think most people even bother to play with the eyes of these figures. Adding the crappy PERS for those few people was not worth the reduction in likeness and the ugly pers panels.

I think I prefer eye plates over PERS. PERS is a really cool concept, but there's risk of breakage with the eyes being connected OR the eyes aren't connected but then you have to get them looking in the same exact direction and getting it just right is tough.

Having 3 eye plates like batfleck (straight ahead, left and right) is the most practical and still give you that variety.
