So I bought the packaged deal from an eBay seller I mentioned earlier and while ANH Luke and Vader just got to customs, this guy was delivered today. No complaints at all by me.

Great pics! I'm jealous that you're enjoying him on Star Wars Eve. I like that his lightsaber blade is long like the initial reveal trailer. There were some shots where it looked more like a dagger than a sword.

I really expect that hot toys release Kylo ren with his face sculpt in the future. I see the movie it was great! and Kylo is awesome. Now I'm trying to suppress my desire to buy it.

The problem is they will probably release him around the time or Rogue One

and new stuff coming out about Episode 8 coming out 6 months after that. They will probably show him in a new costume around that time and we will be saying "I need to wait for the Episode 8 version!"

Should I get this?

or should I wait for the 2nd costume without the hood and hopefully with the head sculpt?

Didn't really need to spoiler tag that everyone knows he takes the helmet off in the movie. You see him in second trailer without it.

:lecture

But also takes it off in another scene:

Deleted due to Tapatalk bug.

But what is Kylo wearing in that scene?

It looks as though Han's still standing on the catwalk, and Kylo is falling with his saber. The spoilers say it's Han that naturally falls.

I'm getting this figure but...

He killed Han!! :( I don't feel he's a villian I can actually like down the road because of that.
His power with the force is weak though, it's like he's not truly gifted as his grandfather and uncle were and even Rey, who I'm assuming is Luke's daughter.

I don't agree with this at all.

We saw him do things we haven't seen even Vader be able to do. If you are referring to the final fight it was because like with every dark side user in star wars he was simultaneously over confident and trying to initially recruit Rey to the dark side. Plus he had a freaking Bowcaster shot that injured him. Rey also clearly surprised him so he was caught off guard.

True. However...

Rey was able to turn the tables on him and see into his mind whilst he was trying to see into hers. In the final battle she was able to call to Luke's lightsaber, overpowering Ren attempting to do the same thing.

It's possible Ren was having more difficulty because of his injuries, but from my perspective Rey, using the light side of the Force, has more natural ability than Kylo Ren does. This is without any training at all as opposed to Ren who has had training from Luke in the past.

Of course it's just my opinion at this time.

Yeah I really think you are misinterpreting that scene

Part of why Rey was able to mess with his mind is because he was not expecting her to be force sensitive. And then the thing with the lightsaber wasn't because she was somehow stronger with the force she just happens to pull for it second so it went in her direction instead. Obviously he wasn't expecting her to do that ala Obi-Wan against Maul.

And you have to understand it from a story telling point of view. He just killed Han and nearly killed Finn. You can't have him then almost killing Rey. If both Rey and Finn were put down who would be left to help them get away in the way they did? They have to have some good guy success with the main trio. And like I said, he didn't want to kill Rey, he wanted to recruit her.

And one thing I am curious about going into episode 8

I know JJ said the sith were gone but does anyone else get the feeling that killing his father was some sort of test Snoke wanted him to pass and that he might end up bringing the Sith back and make Kylo a Darth? Since he said to bring him back to finish his training.

I actually like the fact that Renn was able to kill the character of Solo. I'll bet you anything that Harrison Ford came back upon that one condition: Solo dies. Indeed, as we all know, he'd wanted the character to die in Empire to invest the series with a depth he thought was otherwise lacking. He got his wish (and no doubt a zillion dollars into the bargain). ;)

And I like the Renn character, most particularly because of Adam Driver's terrific performance. I thought his modulated voice in the trailers sounded silly, but in the film it's fine, and he really delivers exceptionally well in the role. The Renn character can never supersede the iconic appeal of Darth Vader, but he's certainly more interesting as a developing character than Vader because he's unstable, conflicted and confused. And, as opposed to the scenery-chewing Anakin of the prequels, Driver actually makes Renn's petulance have some measure of psychological resonance. His rather offbeat looks and careful mannerisms made him really engaging, and probably the stand-out in the film for me.

Don't know whether that's enough for me to buy the HT figure, but still... ;)
