I'm sorry all I see is this...

People who keep regurgitating this "emo" "bratty" "spoiled" garbage clearly misunderstand the character completely and should be required by law to read the Novelization.

The guy was corrupted for a while started as a young boy, was shipped off to his uncle by his mom who lied to his father about what she knew, was then trained by his uncle who was the most powerful Jedi known to exist, and the completely turned by Snoke. He is the first dark side user we have seen who actually has multiple family members alive and out there that he actually knows about. All of the ones we have seen prior either have no more family or was taken as a young child and has no knowledge of them. Kylo Ren is literally what young Anakin should have been.

Also there is a ton of crazy backstory about Snoke we need to learn based on things he has said.

A justifiable second Kylo would include:

-Adam Driver Sculpt
-Battle Damaged Costume
-Vader helmet

Yeah, people dismissing his tantrums are missing the point. Well put.

I've mentioned this stuff before but here are two of the conversations regarding backstory on Kylo and Snoke from the novel. All of this stuff is either from cut scenes or just lines from the script they changed/shortened.

Snoke: "I have never had a student with such promise-before you"
Kylo: "It is your teaching that make me strong, Supreme Leader."
Snoke: "It is far more than that. It is where you are from. What you are made of. The dark side, and the light. The finest sculptor cannot fashion a masterpiece from poor materials. He must have something pure, something strong, something unbreakable, with which to work. I have you."
Snoke: "Kylo Ren, I watched the Galactic Empire rise, and then fall. The gullible prattle on about the triumph of truth and justive, of individualism and free will. As if such things were solid and real instead of simple subjective judgements. The historians have it all wrong. It was neither poor strategy nor arrogance that brought down the empire. You know too well what did."
Kylo: "Sentiment"
Snoke: "The elements align, Kylo Ren. You alone are caught in the wings of the storm. Your bond is not just to Vader, but to Skywalker himself. Leia..."

And then later in the book;

Leia: He knew our child would be strong with the Force. That he was born with equal potential for good or evil.
Han: "You knew this from the beginning? Why didn't you tell me?"
Leia: "Many reasons. I was hoping that I was wrong, that it wasn't true. I hoped I could sway him, turn him away from the dark side, without having to involve you. You had, you gave, wonderful qualitied Han, but patience and understanding were never among them. I was afraid your reactions would only drive him father to the dark side. I thought I could shield him from Snoke's influence and you from what was happening."
Han: "So Snoke was watching our son."
Leia: Always. From the shadows, in the beginning, even before I realized what was happening, he was manipulating everything, pulling our son toward the dark side."

So basically Snoke targeted him as a young boy to corrupt, and then did so. Or at least began to.

I'd recommend it. It also has a bunch of scenes that were known about from leaks that apparently got cut for time reasons. Like how did Poe got back, another part where Unkarr Plutt shows up, etc.

Even without reading the book, I think that description is completely ridiculous.

Driver gave a fantastic performance that made you believe Kylo was someone who was genuinely tortured by the conflict within him, and who had become incredibly dangerous and unpredictable as a result. It was an anger that felt fully justified and believable, and was the furthest thing from the whiny and bratty Anakin of the prequels who basically just acted liked an immature 8 year old all the way through.

I may have had my issues with TFA (draggy pace at times, recycling of the Death Star), but Kylo was definitely not one of them.

Changing gears for a moment....I see blogger's and people in HongKong already posting pics and wonder when we can expect him here in the states. I'm estimating mid January.

So I was just thinking about emo characters in movies, and I have to say that Kylo is one of the best. Way better than the guy from Twilight IMO. Might have to pick a figure of him up if we ever get a maskless, whining version.
