1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 320 - Star Wars Ep.VII - Kylo Ren

Just preordered him. Finally pulled the trigger. Unless I see something mindblowing revealed for the force awakens this year, I think i'm good with Just Kylo, Rey, and Finn. I'd consider Poe only because I'd love someone in an x-wing uniform who isn't Luke(as i'm probably getting 2-3 hot toys Lukes at some point anyway. Don't need 4). I'd also go for an unmasked Kylo. But that's it. I have to save some money for Marvel stuff, OT star wars stuff(and prequel if it's awesome. I'd love an Anakin), and maybe even some random or DC stuff if it strikes my fancy.

And yes, that spoiler concept art description sounds awesome. I was good at staying away from episode 7 spoilers. Going to be hard to stay away from Rogue one and episode 8 though.

Sometimes I wonder if they didn't do a driver sculpt because they couldn't decide how to deal with his hair. Sculpted or not.

Swappable heads will likely be the solution. Doubt you'll ever get -- or want -- a Driver sculpt that you can also set the helmet over.

I've read elsewhere that there was some exclusive likeness deal that Disney had for their Driver sculpt disney elite figurine that they had a secret until it released on the day the movie came out. Which is why not even Hasbro has anything we have seen yet in the pipeline.

My guess is that it was a little of that and a little of them trying to control what got out about the movie (Like the Rey w/ Lightsaber figure).

That makes sense, but anyone with an Internet connection could've seen the unmasked pic that was out 7 months before premiere night. Seems like Disney wanted dibs..

Hasbro's releasing a 4 inch unmasked Kylo.

There was no head sculpt most likely because they wanted to rush Kylo out before the film opened to cash in on the hype.

With Ep VIII less than 18 months away I doubt we'll see an unmasked version before then. Given he'll probably be wearing the same costume, HT will need something to differentiate him from the Ep VII version.

I think we'll get the unmasked/BD version soon. The character has become very popular and Hasbro/Disney Elite have already began to release their unmasked Kylos. HT makes more money in the end by releasing a 2.0 now that The Force Awakens is still a huge deal.

Social media. There was a time when Adam Driver and Kylo Ren were names only a Star Wars fan would know (and some GIRLS fans). Now there are over 300,000 tags for Kylo Ren on Insta (over 40,000 tags for Adam Driver) and those numbers are only going to increase after #UndercoverRen (six million views since Sunday).

Opening night, there were people at my theater who didn't even know who Kylo Ren was. We even had a guy dressed as Kylo wearing a five-thousand-dollar costume that looked stolen from the set and there were still people who didn't know who he was.

Everybody and their mother knows Kylo Ren now, and Adam Driver as the guy who plays him.

Yeah they are releasing one months after Disney had their elite series version. That's the point. Hasbro had access to the same vanity fair pictures Hot Toys had. And probably more.
