Sorry for the dumb question, but that cracked base is an effect or a defect ? I'm confused right now.

If you have the cracked base it just means your Kylo is a little bit angry.

HT really dropped the ball by not offering the Driver sculpt.

They didnt drop the ball at all. They were smart, and just doing what they always do, getting ready to double dip this guy with the DX version because they know people will buy it. Why blow their entire load on the very first figure? Dumb business is that that is. They do this literally ALL THE TIME. How people dont know this by now is unfathomable.

I think people realize that. I certainly do. But that doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Think its defect. But no one knows. Every cracked base Looks different.. so i think its defect.

HT should announce the significance of the cracked base "very soon".... and how it will impact the value of your doll. Stand by... My guess: it means absolutely nothing. That said, I'm glad I got one with Kylo and glad I didn't get one with Jakku Trooper.


That CREG Driver sculpt is excellent. I feel like by the time you get it painted, HT will be teasing their own version though.

It doesnt bother me at all. Its what they do. They do this for franchises far less popular than star wars lol. They are going to milk this to death, and I dont blame them one bit for it. Id probably try and get out 2 more versions of Ren before 8 comes out if I were them lol.

Although I have a feeling it will just be one DX maybe Q1-2 2017, and thatll be it for him until after 8 comes out.

Just cut the hood off. I realized you can't just separate the hood as it is connected to the long part of the scarf on the back so I don't recommend it to anyone unless they have a spare.

that doesn't look too bad but I think the Hood is harder to attach right?

Ren was out before the film, none of the merchandise out before the movie had the sculpt.

His face was revealed in the June 2015 Vanity Fair issue. Kylo went up for PO three months after that.

HT just rushed the figure out, foolishly assuming Adam ****ing Driver would have his face covered for most of the picture.

I'm not gonna bother trying. I bought an extra robe to have one stock after cutting the scarf from the robe, but I decided I didn't need one stock so opted to cut the hood off of one.

I don't think it would look good with the hood on after cutting it as it's just a separate piece now and might just fall off when moved. It was too integrated so i would have been cutting out too much of the scarf and didn't want to do that as that was the look I was going for. I don't recommend it if you just have the one, that's for sure.

I'll take some better pics. I wanna glue a couple folds back in and hide where it was cut a bit better.

Nevermind, figured it out..no problems BTW, this first shot, I can tuck the piece sticking out back in, forgot too in this shot

And once again everything back on..fits fine, better even now that the shaw and the hood are two separate pieces, even easier to futz with IMO

Still no official merchandise with Driver face went out before the movie (even at Disney store they had two different Kylos, with the unmasked one coming out AFTER the movie). And that was a wise choice, from my point of view and for the spoiler free movie experience. Just like hinting Finn was the jedi instead of Rey (that went up for PO without saber BEFORE the movie and was updated weeks after TFA was in theaters).

They could have just had Ren as being a April/May arrival date and hid the existence of a head sculpt. They wanted to cash in right when the movie came out. Can't blame them really. Judging by the length of time for the other human sculpts it would have pushed him back a while. We probably would just have Stormtroopers still.

I used to wish that this included a headsculpt as well, but the more I think about it, I don't think Hot Toys would have been able to pull it off. Adam Driver has a very unique face; I don't think their sculpt would have looked remotely like him.

I am pretty sure it is a defect. I have one and it is different than the rest I have seen. It doesn't bother me since it fits the character and looks cool.
