I just received an email from Timewalker saying that they've already sold 75% of their pre-orders for Nebula. This figure is in very high demand.

Yes, I saw that too. Really goes to show how unpredictably popular some figures are.

Or I guess they may have simply got their estimates wrong

Re: Hot Toys Avengers Endgame Nebula MMS Figure

Yep sure, but that's then on Sideshow or the local suppliers. Hot Toys won't be sitting on anything. That was more my point. HT will order enough material to do their run and that will be it. It's really no different than someone here doing a custom. They never say I am going to make 1000 and see if I sell them all. They ask for interest, get a pre-order list together and order material accordingly.

Right right, makes sense.

I think it's a combination of both. Most retailers probably did not realize how popular this figure will be. Thus, the amounts they pre-ordered were likely to be low compared to demand.

Anyway my new local supplier finally got her up on their site after being at some con over the weekend. So I have my pre-order in place. :yess:

Now for the long wait. On the plus side my Doctor Strange got shipped today, so that's a plus !!

I had a long talk with Steve at Timewalker a few years back, and I got the impression there’s a bit of underhanded tactics from Sideshow at play in how many figures are allotted to other retailers where HT is concerned. He even said that once they run out of their allotment, SS is reluctant, and often doesn’t, let them get more to fill additional requests. Sideshow charges full MSRP, and gouges on shipping, and then they give you a few Reward points. I order mostly from Timewalker, pay less than retail, and always get free shipping (except on Jabba) — still comes out cheaper than SS crappy reward points. Look how often it’s sold out everywhere, but Sideshow. It’s hard to judge the numbers when SS is playing games with allotments.

Yes, I admit I also spoke with Steve a couple of years ago and discussed how everything stems from Pre-orders. Which makes sense really.

But yes, I could imagine Sideshow want to keep as many customers as they can for themselves. Having their cake and eating it as well. Therefore forcing secondary sellers like Steve to guess upfront how many they will need. Very unfair considering it is difficult to judge popularity for some figures.

I spoke with another retailer recently and got a similar response. Based on my understanding, Sideshow allows one or two batches of pre-orders from retailers but that's it. Once the allotment runs out, Sideshow will not ship anymore at the discounted price since Sideshow knows that it can make a higher profit by selling directly to the collectors.

Although I used the term "allotment", I am not sure if Sideshow has a quota or fixed allocation for the retailers or the shipment depends on how much the retailers pre-order. But I got the impression that Sideshow lets the retailers dictate how much they need but are limited to the one or two shipments at a discounted price.

The retailers who have NRD can order more if needed. The ones who do not run the risk of being stuck with extra figures of they order more.

There is a good chance in a couple years with the next GotG movie since all they would have to change is the outfit and accesories.

True but i was thinking they would do something in the years between GotG2 and IW. That way if a few don't survive you can still have the whole cast back for the 3rd film.

Damn. I'm sure it's the angle but she looks really fat there. Eating a few too many space burgers.
