I wish HT wouldn't include name plates with diorama bases.
One, it limits using the base for anything else. Two, it cheapens the look. Three...if someone can't recognize an iconic character displayed in front of them, well,, then ...just saying.

I can’t believe the prices in eBay are still up in the $800.00 range for the first release. I can only assume some people didn’t get the memo…

Maybe some collectors are impatient - the figure isn't even up for preorder so there is no guarantees.

Even then, it might be a 2-3 year wait - 2024? 2025?

These impatient collectors can enjoy the figure on their display today.

For those wanting a Joker re-issue, maybe you don't remember but it was the overproduction of both Jokers that killed the line. Purple could be had for deep discount and Mime could be had for insanely cheap. And then Returns Batman sat around forever as well - especially the two pack. I'm not sure any of this Batman stuff is new tooling including the Forever figures. I think it's possible they were made a long time ago and put on the shelf.

The DX09 is very impressive for a old figure but I expect more in almost 2023 and therefor for me it loses a bit of its luster with this showing.

I just got into collecting Hot Toys around that time.

I don't recall the purple Joker being at a deep discount but I definitely remember Mime Joker was cheap during Black Friday, back when SSC actually had really good deals.

I ended up getting the Mars Toys Joker as a stopgap solution, hoping that Hot Toys will re-issue or Queen/InArt will get the license.

Apparently Hot Toys lost the likeness right to jack. And apparently he is very picky to who he allows those rights. So as of right now I don’t think a reissue of 89 joker can happen unless Hot Toys wants put down a **** ton of cash to buy those rights.. and why do that when they can release a new Spider-Man variant every 6 months lol

Jack has made so much money off Batman 89 it’s ridiculous. Lol. If I’m remembering correctly, he got such a high percent off merchandise that studios changed their contracts afterwards.

Hey after seeing close ups of the two Batman’s from other groups, the 1989 Batman with the gargoyle stand does have a different textured cape, the original cape Batman is next to the chair.

It looks more relaxed and less puffy than the dx09 but still, I welcome everything from this Batman

So when Sideshow has the coming soon tag does that mean anything anymore?

I like the Gargoyle very much, although I think technically its know as a Grotesque in architecture. Will look great in a display of Bats & Joker. Probably try and get a parted out one if it comes with the new Bats or Joker, wont be cheap though. Seeing as I already have the DX08 & DX09, I see no need to get a new Bats & Joker figure.

Yup! He even boasts about he gets made sure to get his hand into all the Joker merchandise in the special features if I remember correctly

Yes he is and in the Batgirl movie. It looks similar but still different than the Returns suit

the 89 batman issue was mystery oil seeping from the suit, especially inder the utility belt, which scared a lot of people into the suit cracking hysteria. have to remember this wasnt long after the robocop ed 909(? sorry I dont collect robocop) which flaked pretty early.

Yeah the purple suit wasnt a pegwarmer. The mime was up for a few years, too scene specific, and the joker we wanted was the art gallery version.

The ‘89 Batman was the second 1/6 figure I bought when I started collecting years ago and I can’t describe the magical feeling of having that figure in hand for the first time. Indeed, those were some of my first steps into the high end collectible scene and the first time I had seen a figure that looked so realistic.

Sadly, I didn’t know much about climate control and storage back then and many of my figures (and other stuff) deteriorated. I’ve been slowly rebuilding my collection, my emotions tell me to buy him again but logic tells me the rubber suit is a problem waiting to happen I actually bought a replacement body at one point off eBay but it was oily and sticky on opening. Seller claimed there was no issue and denied responsibility but I ended up with a refund anyway.

In any case, I hope it comes with a better cape. The DX09 was amazing but the cape left a lot to be desired.
