That video and some recent pictures have seemed more promising in terms of the coat color.

Though, if it's nice in hand, means it must be tricky to photograph because it doesn't always look right.

just got mine. have a crappy camera so i cant really show him off to you guys...the coat IS ridiculously tricky, even to the human eye. I was sitting in a chair and was in a part of the room that was a bit shadier than the others. The coat looks a very dark purple in this lighting, but as soon as I moved the figure a few inches out of the shadows and into the sunlight of the room, the coat turns a near perfect purple.

-so light=brighter purple
-lack of light=a sort of navy, dark purple

Also the inner lining is weird. It's not as much of a solid red as I remember. I might be exaggerating here but maybe hydeous could back me up. In certain lighting the lining does look more on the copper side of red. I'm looking at it right now and it has a bit of that copper or salmon color worked in there. Put it in bright lighting however and its pretty solid red again. I'd like to see how MaulFan and other photographers capture this guy in terms of color.

The coat itself and the two figures are top notch. These guys are wonderful, kind of surreal seeing him on your shelf after all this time. The ugh...the grenade rig is a a real b!ch to put together though, especially those tiny nearly 1/6 scale safety pins.

I just got my Joker too, is it necessary to put on those safety pins? What's the purpose of those pins? I just put the grenades on without the pins.

That sounds perfect. THAT'S how it's supposed to be. Just like the real coat. The problem before was the coat was too dark to start off, so in the light it looked great but outside of a direct light source (and in some cases IN direct light) it was almost black. And the suggestion of making the coat a bright, vibrant purple would have the opposite result: great in low light but obnoxiously bright purple overload with a lot of light. So far I'm happy with the pics I've seen. Now I just need to get the damn thing from Joe (Mista305). :lol

Don't really bothered much bout color, I think they look pretty accurate, as far as screen accuracy is a concern.

You gotta put the pins on, son. It'll all bout the details. That's what separates HT from its competitors.

Yup, if you had a flood light on it you might see the purple :lol

Yeah, I don't even think I held onto them it made the HT look so bad as far as the coat, and the head :lol

This one captures it though, this is the color my v1 coat looks 90% of the time, especially just in the room, certain photos can bring out color more but outside of the camera I've got this.

Which I think makes clear why I'm so hung up on the color of the coat. I don't need the exact shade of purple in the movie, but when the movie coat is clearly this purple.

The figure should at least be in the ballpark, but my v1's not even in the same city.

This looks very promising, not sure how good it'll look in hand but should be at least a fair ammount better than my v1.

Yeah.. minus the Joker mini-bust it's like a sea of Black and Grey. At least everyone is matching. :monkey3

Could drop Two-Face in without missing a beat :lol, took that photo before I had him though.

It is funny, the coat color on the bust is almost perfect, when I got that, I was scratching my head, the shirt, the coat, both the right color, and yet the figure, not so much :lol

well after doing some research the tie on the DX joker is the most accurate tie out there including BillyB's tie. The tie used was a green tie designed by turnbull and asser and was thinner than normal and most green. To get the darker look the tie was soaked in water for days and with the tint added the dark highlights. So a billyB shirt and this tie would look perfect.

I was able to call them and talk to a manager at the turnbull and asser store and found me a tie made for linda hemming for the Dark Knight. He found it from the UK leftovers and was able to buy it for 185.00 to put on my bobbyC joker bust. I will post pics once I get it.

Great detective work there! You-know-who would be proud!

No doubt!

I have them both on order from my comic shop...(DC Direct releases so I am mentally preparing myself for the looonng wait).

They both looked INCREDIBLE when I saw them in San Diego.

I'm sure this has been posted, but I'm not going to go through all 120 pages to find it.

What really struck me about 2:30 into the video, this guy is just standing back and looking at the DX Joker and the expression on his face is what this hobby is all about. His look is of someone reveling in the sheer joy in appreciating an extremely well made collectible from a much loved pop culture property.

Sure it took them 3 times to get it right and it's unlikely that they'll spend this much R&D on any figure in the future - but I really can't wait to get mine.
