Isn't this the same novel where Batman has an in depth monologue in which he tells Blake about his loss and how, after the loss, he began to implant tracking devices in all of his friends?

That was actually in the script though, believe it or not.



I guess they thought it was too whacky to include. But hey, this is a movie that has a magical leg brace that can make it's user kick through bricks and a magic "clean slate" flash drive that doesn't exist and was made up . . . until Batman says it does and actually has one.

This always bugged me and is a major flaw IMO. Are you telling me the entire city is in chaos and the Joker doesn't make one little peep? I mean even Crane was fooling around (now tell me you couldn't see the Joker in a role like that at the very least). I know they didn't do anything with Joker out of respect for Heath, but I felt not even mentioning him or talking about him was a major dishonor. Its like they tried to pretend he didn't even exist in TDKR. We even got Two-face and Ra's flashbacks, but nothing with Joker. Nothing about Bruce feeling the Joker won after all. SOMETHING of any kind would have been better than the nothing they gave us. He is too important to have dropped off like they did.

All the main characters from the first two films show up in TDKR...even DEAD characters (two face,rachel dawes , Ras)

Ill never understand why fans can't get over it. So he wasn't in Rises. Who cares? The movie was about Bane, Talia, Blake Catwoman, etc...If you didnt like the movie, so be it.....The Joker doesnt have to be in everything. Even if Heath was alive, we have no idea if he would have been in a sequal. Speculate all you want, but none of us are Nolan or Goyer, we have no idea what they might have thought up. It could have gone a billion different ways.

I was pointing out the novel only to those who may not have known about it. The book is very close to the script, i thought for those who didnt know about might have been interested in it...

I was just commenting on Buttmunch's post. It's true, they did purposely make it seem like he didn't exist.

The Joker is the giant elephant in the room that everyone talks about, except for the people in the movie. He's never addressed, never dealt with. They mention everything from previous films like Ra's, Rachel, Harvey (even gets flashbacks), even Gordon's kids get a mention, but the Joker? He might as well not exist. Hell, he might not!


Doesn't bother me, I think TDKR sucks for different reasons but I can see why folks might have a problem with it. I mean, the Joker wasn't a main character in Batman Begins either, but he was mentioned, developed and created in it. I can see why people won't get over it. He's the missing link and it separates TDKR from the first two, even though the the movie desperately tries to connect them together as a "trilogy".

I think maybe Heaths joker came off so incredibly well, that the creators thought instead of being happy with a brief flashback or some kind of "dark room" scene with a stand in, that audiences might dwell on what might have been instead of enjoying the new movie.

I think it's almost universally true that things we want most are the things we can't have... Like Ledger doing the joker again.

I think the respect factor that people mentioned is part of it as well.

Dx joker 2.0 "interrogation room"


Had some fun, when setting up in detolf at lunchtime today..
This to me is the real triumph of the DX11, you get this in a box (well without a heavily modded bats)...

Nice pics of the whole set up makes me really want this set.

Joker isn't in TDKR because the character was too good for it. He's simply left out and never mentioned because, well, TDKR is a crappy alternate reality where lame things happen.


He lives on in our Batman Begins and The Dark Knight blu rays/dvds.

Not necessarily. They could just provide you with the black part that the grenades hang onto to as a velcro piece or something to attach in the DX11 coat.

Hmm ok I am guessing you would have to glue it in, for it to really hold. If it was just Velcro or something not strong you could easily pull it out with that pose.
