Thanks for the input guys.... I guess they should have another actor dressed up like Joker and make a short scene showing Joker fleeing the place without really showing the face and blurring a single word..
BTW: My DX11 just arrived!

Yeah, I get that. That's the "movie logic." What I don't get is why Batman takes the blame? Why not blame the Joker? He was a bad guy and he killed a bunch of people. Not to mention, the female cop didn't died, so she knows the truth about Harvey. Also, Gordon and Batman are already lying about the truth, why not blame everything on the most EVIL villain in town, the joker. :)

Because that would let the Joker win.

Oh. Right, but the Joker had been in police custody before Batman was called to Dent. He couldn't have murdered Harvey, and be dangling from a cable off the side of a building at the same time.

they didn't do that out of respect for Heath Ledger

no, because blackgate and arkham are two different places in two totally different locations of gotham.

the fact that so many people ask this question is kinda staggering. there's more than one prison in the story and logic (and 70 years of batman comics) tells us that joker is in arkham, not in blackgate.

How does the joker win if they blame him? Also, he doesn't have to kill harvey with his own hands. Remember how he had Rachel killed when he was in jail...and the judge and the commissioner...the bombs in the hospital and the boats, he had people do those things for him. They could say someone else did it :)

oy vey.

the joker wins if harvey is revealed to have lost his marbles. that's how he wins. has nothing to do with who joker does or doesn't kill.

Why are we discussing this? :lol

Joker doesn't appear in TDKR (thank goodness), not even mentioned. Who cares? You can speculate all you want, in the movie, he doesn't exist.

He's self-contained the previous films.

You can't do what the youtube video says. Heath Ledger is the penultimate Joker. Nolan knows that and fans know that. To bring back the Joker with another actor would be ridiculous. Even if the actor had Ledger's Joker down pat, the audience would still know that it's not Ledger and there would be a sense of illegitimacy and it would take the audience out of the film.

Those novels aren't canon.

There have been Movie/Book adaptation companions for decades. The Dark Knight has the Joker giving some cash to an old lady on the street corner before the bank heist. Am I really supposed to believe that happened in real time in the film when he's waiting for Grumpy and Chuckles?

:lol

just like i said....

~ and heath ledger being dead is part two. but there's a logical story reason why the joker's presence (or lack thereof) is completely irrelevant to tdkr.

Sorry if this was already posted, I just saw this on Facebook.

This always bugged me and is a major flaw IMO. Are you telling me the entire city is in chaos and the Joker doesn't make one little peep? I mean even Crane was fooling around (now tell me you couldn't see the Joker in a role like that at the very least). I know they didn't do anything with Joker out of respect for Heath, but I felt not even mentioning him or talking about him was a major dishonor. Its like they tried to pretend he didn't even exist in TDKR. We even got Two-face and Ra's flashbacks, but nothing with Joker. Nothing about Bruce feeling the Joker won after all. SOMETHING of any kind would have been better than the nothing they gave us. He is too important to have dropped off like they did.

Isn't this the same novel where Batman has an in depth monologue in which he tells Blake about his loss and how, after the loss, he began to implant tracking devices in all of his friends?:lol

Those "plot holes"? Yeah, I'd take those any day

Now correct me if I'm wrong but the reason no one fussed over The Joker not being mentioned in Batman Returns was because in that particular Bat-verse the Joker was dead?

Major flaw. I can believe the flaming bat logo and other far-fetched details as just being a part of rules that govern that universe - but Joker was a part of that universe. And he wasn't there.
