Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

This suit was a lazy filler in the movie and as a figure is an even lazier cash grab by Hot Toys. Buying it is contributing both to the problem of Hot Toys ignoring every other licence to churn out Iron Man repaints and that of Hot Toys rapidly jacking up prices on figures that require the least amount of artistic talent.

Right now Iron Man is the best selling licence out there, right after Avengers that is why Hot Toys is foucsing on them, that is what most people want to buy.

If in a year or two the Justice League is the big licence all they will do are figures from there.

That is very smart business, otherwise they could make Aliens or Doctor Who or Lord Of The Rings 1/6 figures and go out of business.

After Midas...Thumper is top of my Wish List followed by Jack and Piston!

Hot Toys wasn't exactly hurting before their "All Iron Man All The Time" business plan.

Apparently making boat loads of money off of their hottest selling product line fresh off of a movie release is bad business strategy to some posters :lol

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

Naw, just a lazy and selfish one.

And I wouldn't exactly call late fall 2014 (when some of the armors are likely to come out) "fresh off a movie release".

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

Oh just shut the **** up and mind your own business.

I am not coming down on any side here, but if(As they have stated before), HT intend to do the vast majority of the House Party Protocol armours, instead of a "lazy, selfish move", doesn't a redeco of a recently-produced armour make very good fiscal sense for them on the long road to getting all the armours out?
They can re-use a set of very expensive moulds.
And sell a shedload of product at the same time.
Just a thought.

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

I agree that this armor, while very nice looking, is disappointing because it's just a repaint. Mark 33 and Heartbreaker are very unique and make me consider getting both, definitely the 33. This is interesting and ifnit was $150 I might buy it, but it will probably be $250 and if $250 gets me a unique mold then that's what I expect.

Personally my interest isn't in what is good business for Hot Toys except to the extent that if they fail as a company I don't get cool toys from them, so the financial fortitousness of Midas isn't a factor in whether I want it or not. Tho i do see how that is a reply to the assertion that it's "lazy". I'm just not a hugw fan of repaints in general. Hell, to me there are barely enough differences between Mark 3, 4, 6 and 7 to interest me in owning more than one or two.

As to the point of screen time in the movie, that doesn't matter to me at all because I thought the movie was pretty lame. But I like Iron Man as a character, think some of these armos are sweet, love hot toys, so I'll be buying a few of them.

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

Okay, guys. Time to take it a few notches down.

I have removed the hurtful posts in this thread. Sorry, but you took it too far, and too personal.

Please try and keep a more respectful tone in your postings - also when things get heated, and you don't agree on what is said by other members of this forum.

It should be possible to have disagreement without starting on name-calling and abusive language.

If I may make a suggestion. If you wish to discuss the business practice of Hot Toys, consider doing so in a separate thread.

Thank you.

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

I never take anything serious on here. It should all be in fun, we are grown adults collecting awesome overpriced toys :lol

I do not care if this was in a movie or not, my 1st HT was not in movie or comic book it was just something someone dreamed up and thought would make a cool figure. I bought it and it hooked me on 1/6 scale collecting (it's the Firespecter figure, I am a firefighter so i had to pick it up). I am also buying War Machine 2.0 and it was not in the movie at all

If you like it, can afford it and want it go out and buy it. If you hate it, don't buy it. It should never ever matter what anyone else thinks.

Anyway it has gotten to serious on here let us all enjoy the glow of this gorgeous golden man of iron.

Have to agree with this. Movie could have had 20 less armors, and been the better for it.

Lazy by HT, sure is! But also smart. Reusing assets and milking some more $$$ out of the "die-hards". Just slap a "limited edition exclusive" figure on it, and Pavlovs dogs go nuts....

I've seen these sell for close to $1K on the bay. Insanity.

Holy crap your right! WOW...almost consistantly too. How much did these sell for at the toy show?

Re: Hot Toys MMS Iron Man Mark XXI-MIDAS

yes, it is simply a repaint of the MVII. yes, hot toys is capitalizing on the popularity of iron man to churn out different marks without really trying very hard. yes, some will be upset that the promised lines are not moving forward most likely so hot toys can milk the iron man cash cow. these are already established. that being said, i still want a midas because.....
