1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode IV - Han Solo (Stormtrooper Disguise)

I got my Stormtrooper Han in today. Did the swap with my standard Han. Looks good. I think I'll keep it them like this. I found you need to swap the neck adapters as well as the heads. The "smirking" Han head on the standard outfit sits a little loose after the swap, it won't hold a pose when you lift his head, but a bit of white silicone plumber's tape wrapped around the adapter end should solve that. The background is spectacular, although I'd love to pick up the detention center desk Hot Toys showed with the black outfitted detention guard at SDCC this year. My "serious" Trooper Han would look great in that base, blasting the intercom panel. Here are some photos of my swap.

I just swapped the heads. As previously stated if you switch the neck pegs you can also switch the heads with good results. When I put the stormie peg into the smuggler neck the peg was loose so I cut a piece of rubber band and put it in the neck adapter. It fixed the issue.

I like the sculpt well enough but I think it looks a bit young, like Ford in his American Graffiti drag racing days.

The dio base is shockingly nice, really one of the best extras hot toys has ever included. Especially when you consider the recent sequels trend of extremely cheap, lazy bases. With the dio base and the versatility of the two heads it's one of the best bang for your buck figures in recent memory.

Gotta say, this certainly feels more correct and in character than the other way around. I wish HT would do like they did back in the day and send a revised head with the new release, but I know that won't happen. At least we can do so ourselves. Great job!

Hi all,

A question to those who are swapping this head onto the ANH Han Solo body. If you remove the adapter inside the Stormtrooper Han head, can you then insert that head onto the ANH Han neck and peg?

Simple answer: No.

Reason for that. Han Stormtrooper head is not meant to be connected without the adaptor glued into it. When you unglue that adaptor/post, you end up with a hollow head and no way to plug it to any neck peg. You could still make that stormtrooper Han head rest on the neck peg but would end up with a wobbler head figure

With you on that one. That smirk is more in line with a Smuggler Han. Can't say he had many occasions to show that kind of expression while wearing that Imperial outfit.

Yep, I posted some photos and impressions a few pages back. While not at the top of HT’s game, I think it has some welcome attitude on the shelf and some good angles, especially with a head tilt. I like it better than the smuggler sculpt.

It’s particularly difficult to photograph head-on but I was relieved to see it, considering photos did not impress me.

I just opened mine to take a peek. I think the sculpt is very good. The smirk is more subtle in person. I think it’s weakest angles are looking up at it from below where it loses the likeness somewhat, but straight on and most other angles look great. He makes a similar face in ANH, I think when he has his feet propped up right before they cuff Chewy. It happens fast though only lasts for a quick second.

That's too bad. I was really hoping to be able to swap Han heads without swapping pegs because 1) it's more annoying to have to swap pegs on top of swapping heads, and 2) you need the shorter peg to keep the Stormtrooper helmet on the Han Stormtrooper body. It would've been nice if Hot Toys had at least included a spare shorter neck peg, as I'm sure they would've anticipated that a lot of people would've wanted to mount the Stormtrooper Han head on the ANH Han body. Oh well...guess it's time to find a spare shorter neck peg.

I missed those, they're good shots Thing I like about it is that even if the portrait isn't 100%, it does have personality. The different expression will sit nicely amongst the typical HT stares of Luke, Leia and Obi Wan.

I don't find my Storm Han's head/peg being wobbly on Smuggler Han's body. Movement range isn't great but it has more to do with the non articulated neck than the peg length. Anyway, HS holds different poses without any problem.

I love the height on this trooper release, it is great to have three distinct sizes in the mix now. Han sculpt is very meh but the goodies in this set is fantastic and really love the backdrop. I will definitely grab a few more for my display.
