The best times I've had here were the Aliens marines thread and Sideshow T2 figure threads back in the day, everyone was sharing and working together for the good of everyone's collections, now it's every man for themself most of the time.

Very well said! Glad that you're in this forum. I don't know how much criticizing gets to HT but the improvements they made in the past couple of years is night and day. When I got into this hobby I was looking for some Stallone figures, and what I found were the older models which severely lacked in craftsmanship and likeness. I wouldn't want them for free(well only to sell them), they look like kid's toys. I guess some old time collectors here still would've been happy with the older quality.
thx for the comment. the quality keeps improving because, i think, the ht sculptors themselves are bunch of nitpicking bastards(or in yulli's case - a nitpicking b*tch!). if they were too busy slamming each other's opinions instead of being nitpicky about their works, we would never got the great figs we got today.

Why everytime that someone mentions that the nitpicking can go a bit far does everybody take it personal. :cuckoo: I wasn't even talking about anybody in here , the topic just got brought up. It seems you can't speak anymore with out hurting peoples feelings. :lol
Forget it. Carry on. :explode:
i wasnt talking about anybody in particular, and i certainly dont remember your posts to target you specifically. so if you dont feel like you're one of the "moaner" then my comment wasnt meant for you. :)

but you should try to take an objective look at this... from what i observed over time, it's actually the "moaners" who are always taking things personal, like these nitpickers have hurt their feeling, like they made the toys themselves with their barehands. the nitpickers slam a product, a toy, and these "moaners" slam them back. now... who is taking things too personal? :)

For the last couple years there's been a growing attitude of think like me or get the ____ out, people who share opinions that aren't with the majority are labelled as trolls and not allowed to speak, it's rediculous. The irony is that often, the ones who take great issue with a situation are half responsible for it being what it is and don't realize if they'd just ignored and move on, things wouldn't be so bad. It seems hard for people to grasp that taking shots at someone who annoys you only compels them to be worse.
exactly. read or ignore. agree or disagree. it's when one side decides to be condescending and a$$holey about it, that it gets to really annoy me.

It's as if the nature of poiltical discourse in the country has seeped into the toy forums. Not a lot of room for compromise or honest debate. You love something as is or you hate it and if anyone disagrees you post a giant FAIL .jpg up.

I understand that people get sick of "whining" complaints. And frankly, I understand that sometimes. It can get tiresome. But that realization has transformed potentially thoughtful, intelligent people into closed-minded cavemen. . .I wish I could say that I was immune :D

Hadn't seen this one yet, looks damn impressive.

Showed that to a mate who is not a collector and he said that's *Bleep* epic

When I get this figure I think a light coating of black weathering on the jacket would do it wonders. Give it a grimier look. In the pics it looks like he just bought that jacket off the rack.

Same here.
I always give my figures some kind of weathering effect when I first get them(unless its a figure like the T1000, Godfather etc)
Im also going to dull the shine from the shoulder-chain somehow.

If I remember I think the chain is actually pretty shiny in the movie. But to each his own.

Also, the boots kind of look new too. May have a take some sandpaper to them.

yeah, for boots i always weather them by very lightly sandpapering them with fine sandpaper before applying a coat of talcum powder with a paintbrush, really rubbing it in.(i also used this technique on the whole T2 T800 outfit to give it that "dusty" look from the film...it worked really well)
and as for the chain, it is shiny, but in the film it looks like its a darker colour to me...kind of hard to describe really, but im sure i will find a way to get it more to my liking.

I hope his face will be shiny. They sprayed him with vaseline in the movie to make him look sweaty, I hope I won't have to do the same to this!
