Yeah shame on that.
Was lucky with both my Cap figures on being private sellers and at great prices too.

I will indeed get some snaps when Walker is done to join the other Cap`s. Other NEW INVADERS team members are secondary to the Cap group.

Plus a certain FREAK member will hopefully be bringing out the comic SUPER SOLDIER costume later this year and that is at the TOP of my wants.

Yeah. The one I'd really like is the one that he wears doing the war bonds shows. Simple, comic-book-like but a classic design. I'm not sure if Tony is doing that one.

Quick question about protecting the shield paint, if I spray on a clear acrylic flat coat made for plastic and other materials, will that pretty much guarantee my shield won't chip, or at least make it a lot more durable?

I've also seen something about enamel top coat, which I don't know much about, but it's used for hobby projects. Does anyone know if this will be better?

Thanks for any help! :wave

dont use flat. use semi-gloss. the best from what I've seen here is the tamiya ts-79 spray lacquer. I bought a can today and am going to it out on my spare shield soon!

Awesome, thank you very much, I'll shop for that instead! I look forward to hearing how it works for you! :)

I used Folk Art Matte Finish and think it came out nicely:

That looks amazing! :clap And I thought putting anything on it would ruin the look, but that shows I was wrong. I will look for this and the Tamiya brand. I might come back and ask everyone how to apply this stuff when I get mine! :D

I went ahead and ordered this over the Avengers Cap. I really prefer this look, and I think the Avengers version will likely be improved next time they try it, while we'll probably never see this look as a figure again. I can't wait to get it!

I painted my shield today with the tamiya ts-79 and it turned out perfect! I dont need the paint anymore though so if you want to buy it from me let me know. I only used it for two sprays so its like new.

Is the shield still shiny, if you don't mind my asking? I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I'm going to use in the end lol. But I'm glad it worked, I guess you just sprayed it once over, let it sit, then added another coat?

Yeah, its still shiny. Looks like the picture above. Did exactly what you said and was done. Painless with great results!
Thanks for the quick response! I should be back around here when I get my Cap, I actually already ordered a can as soon as you mentioned it along with the coating Gipetto used! xD

Sounds good man. I would go with the Tamiya. Others have used it a while ago and they said it still looks perfect. Just make sure to go light with it. You're better off with a few very light coats than one or two heavy coats.

Thanks, I'll do that!

I appreciate all this help, since I've never done this before. I saw someone showing weird side effects from other spray coatings on plastic, so this is a huge relief to have proven results from everyone! :D

that looks nice broham

Thanks fellas! :hi5:

I just sprayed one maybe two light coats btw.

Hi guys,

Never done spraying before and wanted to ask

- how far should the can be from the shield
- do you spray sideways (left to right)
- do you spray the back of the shield aswell
- how long do you let it dry after one coat

Thanks!

side to side about 10 inches away. one light coat. let it dry for about half an hour to be safe. then another coat same as the first. keep repeating until it has the desired finish. You can spray the back but there is really no point

Thanks mate for the reply and info, greatly appreciated!

I'm going to make a custom shield for my spec ops Cap, but for now he's holding a Rescue Version shield. I finally got a Reeve Superman body for him and he looks beefier than the soldier Story body i had him on before.
Standing toe to toe with Avengers Cap and TFA Cap.

I can't seem to make my figures arm go 90 degrees like the instructions say it can.

It is really stiff... I feel like I will break it.

Anyone have the same problem? If so, any solutions?
