I have the flaking issue on mine too. I was changing around my display and when I went to blow a bit of dust off of the shield, the paint flecked off. Pretty lame.

Anybody know of a fix that anyone's doing for these. Someone in another thread said he clear coated his, but now that I've already got flaked paint, I guess that's not really going to fix the issue for me.

I picked up a couple of bottles of the Gaia colour iron man paint, and did a test on a MKII AU helmet and I reckon this paint is the answer to the flaking issue.
I have a Cap shield I stripped with acetone and I am hoping to get it painted this week to see if it will work.

There's some interesting work being done to fix these in the custom section, but it looks out of my skill range. I've never been a great painter.

I got my airbrush out and gave the empty MKII head some light coats.
It definitely looks like this is the kind of thing HT uses to begin with.
You could pick up a cheapo starter airbrush for $10, and only break it out if you needed it. Use it, clean it, store it for later:

Here are pics of the MKII lid with the test coat of paint:

I still think it'll be a pain in my butt for me to try to do it as I've never used an airbrush before and have very little artistic talent, but I might give it a go. I have an extra Cap shield.

When did you buy it? If it's over their normal 30 day product guarantee window, there's a strong possibility that they won't replace it, unfortunately. I hope they do, though.

Which pegs are you referring to?

Love your pictures, BTW.

Thanks! I love the Cap figures. I have a few more customs in the works.
It was the foot pegs i was referring to. I seem to recall that the first batch of TFA were sent out with normal HT footpegs, and people complained they were too small and Cap was short. The later batches had long pegs, and made him taller. You can find out by taking one of your TFA boots off.

Hey Username great cap collection! Any more pics of the all black captain back there? Looks like a cool design.

Thanks. It's a custom i made. Kind of a Spec Ops Shield kind of a look.
HT Reeve Superman body, Sideshow Snake Eyes costume/gear, military boots, .45 pistol, Rescue Cap head and shield, and generic TT hands.
The white markings were cut from white vinyl sheet and stuck on. I also custom painted a TFA helmet black(See it at his feet). The lid is removable from the face so he can hold it under his arm.
