I'm really surprised the Cap fans like this blue suit. Cap instantly oozes red, white& blue when I think of him not just this smurf suit :lol

Just speaking for myself, but I've been reading Cap books for a couple years now and I loved his Super Soldier series a couple years back, so to see that on the big screen is great.

Plus, I think it'll match the overall tone of the movie. If this one is espionage themed like mentioned, his bright Avengers costume would've looked silly and he'll practically get his TFA suit at the end so it's a win-win for everybody.

Which figure is better, this, or the Avengers Cap? Avengers Cap is so overpriced but TFA Cap actually goes for a decent price.

Which do *you* prefer?
I like them both, and have two of each.
I think TFA Cap is him at the height of his fame as a super soldier, but the Avengers Cap is him doing far more work, and in a global realm.
He's always a soldier.
Do you prefer the image of him fighting Nazis? Or the image of him protecting the world from invasion?
I think the definitive version of him so far is Rescue Cap.
It's my fave, and is still available from SS.
All the Cap figures are cool though.

While I agree screencaps of Avengers Cap may look silly online, the figure is THE definitive Captain America figure, in my eyes. I still do love TFA as well though but if I had to pick, it'd be Avengers Cap.

Thank goodness I can say I am lucky enough to own both:D

Personally, I like the TFA suit better.

Only thing though is, I know lots of people love their figures stock, but me personally, I was underwhelmed with TFA cap when I first got it.
To me it was exactly like the dx12 Batman which needed lots of mods...but when modded, it looks Magnificent.
I personally love the TFA suit, and to me with the mods, it looks much better than the Avengers.

Actually, now that I've seen the new Cap 2 Trailer, I'm debating about selling my Avengers Cap to replace it with the Mostly blue suit and put it with the Avengers dio...I know that wont be screen accurate, but its more like the spirit of the character representing the Avengers.
I was with the majority who first thought he needed lots of red on that suit, but after seeing the trailer, the suit Rocks!
And from what I understand, its more of a spy suit anyway.
Eitherway, I think I'm gonna want that mostly blue suit!

Great looking fig, what mods did you do?

Thanks man.

lol, had to do quite a bit with that.
Let's see,
I added gloss/sheen to the helmet to make it look more like the movie, cause it had sheen...also added the battle damage.
Repainted the lips, repainted the leather on the helmet to make it look more leatherlike, weathered the clothing specially the vinyl straps, added gloss to gloves and boots, tightened the bandolier, dull down the shield and also added the battle damage.

*takes notes* I'm getting one soon from someone on the boards so you have my ear. How hard was it to add the gloss/sheen? I feel like that's something that would make him pop out the most.

It's a little tricky, that's actually my 2nd head to gloss. The first one, I put too much, I was actually quite happy with it but it was very glossy.
So I bought a loose head and this time applied sparingly and it looked better.

I agree, it was probably the best mod on that figure, cause what bugged me the most was the stock helmet looking plasticky.
When I applied the gloss, a surprise effect was that it actually made it darker like in the movie, and with the battle damage/scratch marks, made the helmet looking almost like it was metal.

Which figure is the empty Captain America hood mask from? The one that your TFA version on the left is holding.

That is not available with any figure. I did it myself.
I dremelled out the head till only the mask was left, then lined it with black vinyl, and glued on the "leather" parts(Which were glued to the head originally).
Here's what it looks like:

Damn you just pushed me over the edge. I'll look into getting a spare head to mod and try it out. What kind of gloss did you use/how did you apply it?

(And sorry in advance for the 21 questions. I'm actually pretty excited about getting cap!)

I've always thought the FA Cap was one of the most beautiful Hot Toys figures out there, and always marveled at how low the price has stayed all this time. Heck someone was just selling a loose one on here for $125.

No worries man, glad to help as much as i can.
I used model master acrylic gloss.
I just used a fine brush to apply it to the helmet.

I agree, really love this figure...much more than my avengers Cap.

The end product of your Captain America mask looks amazing! No wonder I thought it was a factory piece... :clap

Is that Cap in the back based on his costume in The Winter Soldier?

Refer to post #8452 :)

Good call.
:lol

Thanks a lot.
It's not too hard, but it takes a steady hand. I also have to almost completely destroy the face inside to get it out without damaging the mask.
I have made four of them for members here but they never seem to post pics of them!

It will be a great movie! The action sequences that we did were amazing and fun. I was lucky enough to briefly appear in this trailer as I was in The Dark Knight Rises. These superheroes seem to like putting me in there, and I am very grateful. And yes, his new costumes look very nice in person. There's a lot more action sequences that not even SDCC fans have seen yet and they are awesome! :yess:

Just curious, are you one of the guys getting beat up in the elevator? :lol
