Thanks :hi5

I see this thread has resurfaced. I guess people saw the new cap figure and now they are scrambling to get the old one. :monkey3

I think everyone is waiting to see if that is the case as well, haha. Tamiya-79 dulls down the shine and supposedly stops the flaking, but we'll have to see if it still does so underneath the coating via cracks and chips. I have both of mine coated so I'm one of the test subjects in the experiment.

It doesn't stop the flaking, it just holds it together longer. The problem is the adherence of the paint to the electroplated shield, and obviously spraying something over the top of the paint can't change that- but it will hold the paint coat together, but only to a point. As has been said over and over in these threads, the only true solution is to strip it and repaint it when it goes bad.

That sounds like the best solution, I would do that instead of coating it

Eh. If the paint flakes off mine I'll just call it battle-damage. In TWS his shield's paint job is never pristine anyway. If you think about it, with everything he puts it through, Cap probably has to have his shield repainted every few months anyway.

Thanks bro. I actually sprayed my shield with
Tamiya semi-gloss coat to give it a more realistic look and also prevent it from flaking. Here's my tutorial

Just got an avengers cap and both shields are pristine, dnt even want to touch them. Knew about the clear coating but didnt know how to go about taping off the back. Glad to see just putting it on a can works just fine :lol

Hey guys,I just finished modding my Cap figure and I wanted to get your opinions on it. I was tired of the molded boots so I customized some leather ones. I also but on that new Chris Evans head from eBay. I think it looks pretty good.

Thanks guys! I totally forgot I did the shield. I found the auction book for the movie on line and painted it to match the damage.

You should stuff the boots with cotton. He will look great with thicker feet and ankles to the top of the boot. Shield looks very good as well.

I will try that. Thanks.

That looks really cool dude. I got that custom head, too. However it seems like the hole for the neck peg is way too far into the head, making mine's neck look embarassingly short. Is yours like this, and did you do anything to correct it? Or did I receive a defective one?

My seller told me theyre all that way but you know how ebay can be so I wanted to confirm. If theyre lying I'd appreciate a picture of the inside to show to them, otherwise ill just deal with it.
