OMG's pics are definitely hammering it home for me that HT improved the size on the Chitauri weapon:

EXACTLY! I did not have many doubts about this figure, the only thing that was bugging me was the size of the gun. After seeing the pictures I'm 100% ready to receive this. That head sculpt is amazing too!

Next to Hulk, he is probably the one I have been most looking forward to. I can't believe he is gonna get here before Christmas! I might just wrap him up and put him under the tree... My oldest boy is getting his first Hot Toy in the form of TFA Cap for Christmas, so it might be a nice bit of serendipity for me to open the Avengers version at the same time.

Sideshow on back order. Would toys2 be my next best choice to get quickly and reasonably priced,,,, I'm in Pennsylvania?

O.K 1st off Great figure but the only thing's bugging me is Why include a hood that's not the mask with the A on it or eyeholes cut out...2ND Would realy ,realy liked to have strap on back to hold shield like 1st captain release mine's holding 2 shields just in case ...One on back and anothher on arm ...They gave us 2 shields now this time ...A strap on the back to hold would've been helpful Great figure just the little details that i think shouldve been done....Congrat's to those who get him.......

Yeah the hood, though valiant effort, is complete crap. Im going to make my own if I feel the need. His hood was more like a spandex hoodie then the base material of the costume.

the hood isn't suppose to have the A or eye holes, because Cap puts the hood on and then puts a helmet on as a separate piece

I think the hood has the details in the Helicarrier scenes, if I remember correctly.

Edit: Your right, it's not the hard mask tho so the hood has the same details as the helmet

I'm sure the hood was only intended to display in the down position with the exposed head. So I'm not too surprised that it looks like total crap when it's put up.

But geez, at least put the A on it.

that's what i thought, but i went further and the A is visible when he walks out the door, after the Banner and Stark talk i think

No but the idea that the "softness" of his movie hood actually became the cowl he wore was never really accurate in the first place.

Actually that's incorrect. The REAL costume featured the hood and cowl as two separate pieces, but the movie *pretended* that he could just pull back the cowl and turn it into a hood (to match the comics) which of course would have been impossible in real life given the material of the cowl.
