Doubtful. AE newsletter stated they will receive their allotment Christmas week. So that probably means process/ship first and second week of the new year at the earliest.

Thanks. My Dark Knight DX will be the last hot toy figure for 2012 for me then. To everyone else, please ensure you post plenty of pics.

Got mine today. Only issues have is I wish the unmasked hood had metal snaps and not those cheap plastic one (seriously HT, WTH!). And I'm disappointed by how restricted his shoulder articulation is. I wanted to use the pointing right hand, but the shoulder is restricted by the uniform too much to get an accurate/decent pointing pose with that arm.

Other than those minor nits, a great figure. 4 down, who knows how many left to go :lol

First impressions 5 minutes out of the box... this figure is sheer awesome.

The pros:
  • The stitching all over the uniform is spot on. The texture on the uniform looks very realistic.
  • The proportions are perfect.
  • The masked portrait looks fantastic and accurate. The helmet details especially the indented wings on the sides of the helmet look amazing.
  • The clean shield's reflective sheen is perfect.
  • Didn't really care for the Chitauri alien weapon at first, but seeing it in hand, it actually looks well put together and is detailed.
  • There can be no mistake that this figure's overall likeness is true to the film.

The cons:
  • The mask blue color is off compared to the uniform blue color. (EDIT: I re-watched Avengers and the helmet is indeed a slightly different shade of blue)
  • The unmasked portrait looks off (I think its the eyes that don't look right to me).
  • Leg articulation at the thigh might be a little risky to try; don't want to risk ripping the crotch area of the suit.
  • I wish there would have been ankle movement with the boots, similar to what SSC does with Zartan, Viper or Crimson Guard.

All in all though, this piece is well worth it and a must have. I am extremely happy with it and it was well worth the wait. Hot Toys does it again!

Oh, and SSC included a Christmas card in the box too! :)

Awesome! great insights :hi5:

Got mine in...have to open it up and look it over..still boxed but my brown shipper is trashed lol..

Sucks man! I hope this is the last one with this issue.

Not a few people who got their DX12 form SSC had ripped boxes.

Try calling customer service if you have problems with the inner box.

I just realized with Cap now, aside from a longer haired Widow and Hulk, anyone that has the past released figures has the entire Avengers team now. Mark 6 Avengers Iron Man, Hawkeye, Cap, Thor1 Thor, IM2 Widow, and Fury. Kinda cool seeing them together right now. Can't wait to see the correctly costumed team completed though :drool

Snapped a few pics this evening.

I got probably a dumb question. How do you guys get that solid black background? Are you using a matte black backdrop? Or are you keying the background out in post?

Well, I am in Ohio, which I guess is technically Midwest... but I did get my shipping confirm. they sent him by FedEx and should be here on the 19th. :yess:

Sallah

Ohio? What part? I'm about 30 minutes east of Toledo. :wave

Those pictures are beautiful! Very professional!!! :clap

Thanks! I've got an incredibly dinky little lightbox but I can maybe get more out of it with a backdrop like that. What kind of material is it? I use mine for other macro photography too, although I'm almost always disappointed with my results.

Might help if I read/watched a few "how-tos" on that, heh.

I use a black backdrop that connects to my lightbox.

As I'm looking thru this thread, admiring all these great pics and waiting on mine (Dec 19th), my daughter of 8 years is asking if I would like her to ask Santa for one of these for Christmas?...
Well, it looks like I'll be wrapping this up and setting under the Christmas tree till the 25th.
Untill then,... keep those pictures coming boys!
