Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Got the cape this morn....awesome work Tony as always....just needs a lil futzing and will get a few pics! Havnt repainted the gauntlets and collar again yet bt plan on a lighter metallic blue instead of the darker that I used....just gotta find the right mixture!

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Little more futzing to do bt here he is!

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

So the trim is supposed to be metallic blue also? I always thought it wasn't so I used metal for my custom

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I went with a dark metallic blue for mine. Not sure if it's 100% movie accurate. Because the gauntlets and neck piece kinda reflect alot of light in the movie. But to me in the movie they usually looked metallic blue. Plus the blue looks alot better than black IMO.

Look at the gauntlet here

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Quite right Darkavatar, I hit him up with some dark red almost maroon metallic paint I got that really hit it closer to the mark. The pics don't do it justice, it's all about the lighting and angle really. But I appreciate the feedback, I don't get butt hurt like some people do with criticism.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Quick question guys: How are you painting him? I would assume a toothpick for the belt and small finer areas, but I am new to the custom department. I made a few on my DX-12. I am nervous about doing any customs to this guy though.

That's good because I wasn't say you painted it wrong but I just couldn't tell from your pics so I was just saying what color it should be. ;)

I can see that the S symbol does look like it is reflective on the image on the right but not on the left, probably because the one of the right is taken on an angle and the light bounces off it easier. :dunno

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Is the body suit the same colour as the Jor El suit? Supes looks lighter.

I like it, what was the paint scheme for the S symbol again

Did you just use metallic blue or other colors

What brand of paints

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Whew, gotta say, I'm usually confident doing mods as almost all my figures have some sort of mods.
I have to say this is one of the scariest mods I've done.
I did the Tony shoulder mod last night, I think as been stated,
if you're lucky to have just smalls dabs of glue to hold the pieces in place on your figure, you're probably fine. Mine was heavily glued.

In fact, there are a couple of areas on mine where it took some chunks of the body when I pulled the inner collar off.
Everytime I hear the costume rip, I was screeching like a thirteen year old girl in a One Direction Concert.

When you have both collar off, the back outfit unstitched, its hard to think the figure is fine. I kept thinking this is probably ****ed.
But once you're finished with the procedure and place the upper collar back and its glued in place, there's a big sigh of relief, its fine.
So just a word of caution, if you havent done many mods, this is not that easy if you're figure is heavily glued.

Mods I did with mine:
* Tony's shoulder mod
* Repainted the gauntlets, and the piping on the costume
* Repainted the belt. I painted it copper. I was gonna add brass color to give it a little more golden color, but...I
I know its not exactly screen accurate, but I like how the color looks with the dark suit. It blends with the costume
nicely so I may leave it as is for now.
* I also painted the hair black. HUGE improvement, I went back looking at pics and watched the movie and his hair is just jet
black, so the not soo dark brown hair kinda bugged me. I feel its a huge improvement as it even adds more likeness to the great sculpt.

Speaking of the sculpt, I take back what I said on my initial minor review.
I stated my small gripe was that I felt the face could have used a little more narrowness cause I felt he looked like Cavill
with 10-15 lbs of mass.
I think that is because of the bulky cape. Its like seeing someone with huge traps so it makes them look stocky.
With the cape off, it really slims down the face.
Now, just waiting on Tony's cape to arrive.

Looking good Remy, what color did you go with for the gauntlets and piping and collar if I might ask

Great pics!!! Love the lighting. Be sure to take pics exactly like this when you get the cape:wink1:

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Nice pics. Looks great.

Thanks man.

Thanks Guyver.
I initially painted it with Gun metal/tamiya clear blue, but with the dark lighting in my shelf, I felt it didnt look any different, I wanted the color to pop so I went back and just painted it with just gun metal.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Tony your cape was just delivered. :yess: I also did the shoulder mod and took out both the outer and inner collar without having to open the suit at all.

Will pop the cape on and will be posting some pictures. First impression right off the bat is that I love the color. Really shows how bright the red on the stock cape really is.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

hate to ask a stupid question, but what process do you paint the hair with? is it simply black acrylic and water it down a tad and small brush touch up?

same goes for the gauntlets and belt... its so small i'm worried i would gum it up!

Thanks for info. The pics look great and I will be using this post to help me with my mod. I'm waiting until I get my cape before I start.

Yes, I used tamiya black acrylic for the hair.

You have to use a really small fine brush to do the really small details, like the piping, belt.
I use a bigger brush to do the dry brushing.

You did an awesome mod on the figure Remy! Keep them coming :D

Thanks Tony.
You're very brave to do that mod first and experiment with the mod process.
Your detailed procedure helped immensely.
