I was wondering. Could the fact that the end of Predator 2 was kind of grainy and 80s special effects be having an effect on how we view this figure?

i don't care even a litte bit about what you say , so please just get lost from me with your crying )

i never had AVP elder. never put the quills in. do you mean it was dull & difficult? pity because i hoped to use those quills on this new guy.
well i'll try that anyway. just might have to get an extra head in case i spoil the first one ))

yeah when he's fired.

that is so lame.
1) are you sure that nobody can sculpt predators better than tsang? how can you be sure? did you go to HT, stopped tsang from what he does and opened a competition for 100 people at least?
2) the answer to your question is "yes": Grayback, P1, P2 - they were all sculpted closer to movie variants than Tsang, and that was years ago, when HT didn't get to that level of painting. Kyle Windrix sculpted every predator head way better than tsang, and only neca cheap production line ruined his prototypes.
so how can you say that nobody can sculpt better? not to mention Kyle and former HT predator sculptor, here on this board people show their either resculpts or 3d models, they all look better than tsang, and they are not hired workers who have to follow the movie variant because that's what their employer wants to sell.
but no, lame kids will always repeat that stupid question "oh who can who can".

remember this, please, if you have something to remember with. and explain to your mind clones:
a) i buy the scale and quality of HT, not tsang's production. i would be super happy if he was fired and a talented person took his place, but i'll have to wait a decade more.
b) count your own money and get out of my business :)

I only have one thing to say
TSANG CAN'T SCULPTS PREDATOR FOR ****!!
Please, get out of the Predator and go home

Yeah P2 is pretty grainy and that probably has a lot to do with so much of it being shot at night and/or under very low light conditions. The scene on the Predator ship in particular is shot under low light, colored light, and lots of atmospheric effects (aka fog). It's really hard to get a decent look at anything from during that scene, colors are especially hard to see.

I hope Fox never does an Ultimate Hunter Edition for P2!

Guys you should stop fighting. This only gives more power to The Tsang.

The suits in P1 and P2 just looked a lot more real.

THe AVP suits look like giant muppets for some reason. That scene where it first fights the alien and you can see the leg from behind while the predator is running. You can just see the puffy suit bunching up on his leg.

iirc you see a lot of that in the first two Predator movies.

I like how people point out sculpt inaccuracies and flaws. I've been collecting HT for only a few years and i'm no expert when it comes to knowing every character's details but i have been collecting replicas props for even longer. Point being, these figures are 1:6 scale, and price is reflecting what you get. Try paying $500+ for MSRP on a piece and then we can nitpick about it being accurate. You get what you pay for for these figures.

If you want highly detailed and perfectly sculpted or truly accurate to the character, then go with custom sclupts. You will never get 100% accuracy from an assembly line or huge companies like HT. $200+ for a figure is a lot but no where near what you can spend on custom figures that demand more accuracy. FOr those of you bashing the sculptor, try it yourself or commision someone to give you the level of accuracy and detail you wish and see how much they'll charge you...PLEASE DO SO!

Until then, accept it will never be accurate at this scale nor even 1/4 scale and move on....RANT OVER. Sorry for the long reply.

as you see, it can be accurate at this scale or even 1/4 if the sculptor gives a **** :D

BTW HT "assembly line" doesn't spoil the figure + they seem to do no photoshop on their photos.
in the end sometimes final product is better shaped/painted than the example figure. that's why if you like something on advertising photos, take it without hesitation, it will be better in hand.

That's pretty much it. If NECA can do it, theoretically HT should be able to aswell. Tsang is no doubt an excellent sculptor but he doesn't seem to have the eye for accuracy with these particular creatures that Kyle Windrix does. If there is anything to 'accept' it is merely that, not that ''accurate figures could never happen at this scale and pricepoint'' because they could.

That said, speaking of NECA, I don't think their Elder is their best work on the accuracy front. Could be due to budgetary constraints and maybe the situation with Kyle's brother too.

if he's "excellent", why the hell do the "old style" predator armors have deep & straight lines and consist of 5-10 parts each item while Tsang's armor has no single straight line, melted surfaces and consists of 1 piece of crappy plastic?
