It's on a ball joint.
Ah... well, it looked like it might have been a ball joint but it must be really tight as when I tried to move it it wouldn't budge, and I didn't want to put too much pressure on it just in case it wasn't a joint at all. I'll have another look tonight. Anyone have any tips on the safest way to free the movement?

I have this piece and I am blown away by it.
From the moment I pulled this thing out of the box my jaw nearly hit the floor, the engineering on this thing is amazing, all individual pistons move, the chrome job is amazing, everyone who has seen this in my detolf have been in awe.
Lanky and pin head you may think but until you have this in your hand you cant judge, in the flesh this thing is truly beautiful and I for one am so glad I got it.
How you can compare a statue to a fully functional endoskeleton is beyond me, I have lots of Sideshow statues but this is on a different level to a statue.
Once this thing sells out you just watch the price rocket, and also being one of the most highly viewed threads (1,451,028) well I think that says it all.
Well said ! This piece needs a good pose then it's just a masterpiece (even more if u have the EB Terminator figures hehe).
He already seems to acknowledge the quality so I doubt you would persuade him on those grounds if the accuracy issues bug him. They will still bug him if he goes ahead and buys it as they do me.
I don't want to persuade him, its his loss mate, just how I feel, I bloody love this thing

You know, the inaccuracies never really bothered me when I first got this, probably because I never really noticed them as I'm no endo expert and don't analyse the endoskeleton like some people do, but after having the inaccuracies pointed out and comparing side by side with the real thing, they do bug me now lol. It's mainly the head. I think if the head was more movie accurate then it would be good enough. I still love the figure though, but I see it as more of a generic T800 endoskeleton, rather than a copy of the stop-motion puppet from T1, and I'm cool with that really. It's instantly recognisable as to what it's supposed to be and everyone that comes over and sees it loves it.
I don't consider myself an endo-expert either but I could nevertheless tell that the headsculpt resembles the T1 endoskeleton in only a loose way, not unlike if they couldn't get the rights to Arnold and so based a headsculpt on his stunt double instead. Its disappointing because most licensed Terminator products tend to be based on T2 whereas this one specified 'The Terminator' for once and it seems like not a single movie-based referance shot was used.
Please the obsessives and you please everyone. Please the casual fans and...well, you only please the casual fans.
I grant you its not easy to please obsessives but I think most will at least applaud effort. However beyond the obviously amazing articulation and engineering of this figure they really didn't go above and beyond when it came to accuracy to source material.

The figure is a beautiful piece, there's a lot to like, the chrome job is amazing, the fact that its made of metal is really cool, the engineering is fantastic, however that being said, theres a few issues I have, the collar bone piston is on backwards and the location of the light up button are both annoyances, but my biggest issue is with the teeth, the promo pics had it right, why they changed it I will never know

In a way I compare this HT 1:4 Endo to the Sideshow Stormtrooper Premium Format. Neither is 100% accurate, both are very iconic movie characters, both have meh bases, and both are 1:4. But the comparison stops here. No matter if the Endo is not 100% accurate, it is still a very impressive piece. Compared to the Stormie PF you get metal parts and especially poseability, you can choose the way to display this piece. The base on the Endo can be weathered and customized to make it look much better (take out the lava and weather the skulls a bit), on the Stormie PF it remains meh.
As I already said before, the old SS 1:4 Endo looks like an obsolete statue, the head is BAD, the Cinemaquette Endo is way too expensive for the girlish pose it comes with, and the 1:2 Endo is great, but too big (and it has its own issues too). The upcoming SS Endo Maquette is only a project, we'll see if it will bring what collectors need. Hopefully the SS Endo Maquette will not have the low QC we are getting used to more and more unfortunately.

Been offered one for $415 shipped but part of me wants to wait for Sideshow to announce their new Endo hopefully early 2014

inaccuracies aside, the figure still looks very cool on display, when set up properly, and no doubt with one of your amazing displays you could make this thing look like it's straight out of the movie.
Think of it this way. You can buy this now, and if SS announce a new endo and it looks better than this, then simply sell this figure and PO the maquette. I too considered what you want to do after I returned my damaged endo, as I wasn't entirely happy with it, but the thing is we could be waiting a long time for a new maquette to be released from Sideshow, so if you don't mind waiting then by all means wait, but you may find it hard to grab one of these at a decent price by then.

Great post my friend, i agree with everything you said in your final paragraph. I just may end up pulling the trigger on this one and like you said earlier - make a custom display of my own as i'm not a massive fan of the base if im being honest.
Its just that pose in the above pics is just so awesome thats its difficult to not look at it! Its exactly the pose i would be wanting mine to have

Yeah a custom base is a must. The standard base is pretty sh-t. Some weathered 1/4 scale skulls, something that resembles dirt and mud, some scrap metal parts and you'd have something that looks like its straight out of the film. Combined with epic lighting like you usually have in your displays and this thing would look pretty damn cool...
The pose above does look awesome and I had mine posed in a similar way. That's why I liked this thing, the articulation is so good you can have it in a wide variety of poses. You're not limited like a statue, and as its a robot and not a person, it looks the same as a statue I.e. You don't have to worry about exposed joints or trying to put it into a dynamic action pose.

I keep telling myself enough is enough but then another piece of awesomeness catches my eye and i just have to have it! To be honest, i do sell quite a bit of my own collection to help fund new stuff - i dont think i've even shown half of what i own on these forums...
