I think you might have misunderstood my post. I didn't really have a bad experience, and I'm not basing my opinion on that. My figure came with a bit of chrome paint missing on the shoulder. As they can't replace parts, they refunded me and asked me to destroy the piece. I had always planned to buy another one with the refund money.
My opinion is based on the fact that this is 80% cheap plastic and it costs $400 USD. Yes, it does look cool, don't get me wrong, and I do like it, but after smashing it, I saw past the cool factor and all I could see was $400 worth of broken plastic. It kind of made me feel a bit bitter towards it, and I didn't feel like it was worth the money when I saw it like that. I still don't think it's worth the money. It is a cool looking figure no doubt, but not worth $400. Making the entire thing out of die-cast metal or polystone would have given it a different look, trust me. It would've looked much better and much more realistic.
Trust me, many collectibles don't worth their asking price. And there are also high end plastic collectibles, that are light years ahead compared to polystone ones. The materials a collectible is made of are not that important, if the collectible is well made (and I have collectibles made of all kinds of materials). This Endo is well made, no discussion about it.
When I hear that people would prefer polystone to plastic makes me laugh for two simple reasons: 1. the overrated polystone is in fact just another type of
plastic, and 2. these people like "a weight" to their collectibles, like they are going to carry them all day long, and not have them displayed on a shelf.
This is a figure that will sit on a shelf most of the time, not like for example a Stormtrooper blaster prop, made from a real demilled SMG, or a M41A Pulse Rifle made from a genuine Thompson SMG and which you can indeed carry in your hands like the screen used item.
As I already said that die-cast metal some love so much will not be steel, maybe with the exceptions of some rods, but the main body of the figure would have been made of cheap zinc alloys, heavy - yes, quality - not so much.
So personally I don't feel like this figure should be made of polystone (get the Cinemaquette then), neither full-metal, unless someone would make it full stainless steel - and that would cost a lot.
In the end the value is in the eye of the beholder, the same with beauty.
