Correct it has a barrel tip.

Wouldn't the sight be pretty useless down there anyway? Not like the user could see it what with the giant barrell above it.

I don't think the sight on this operates like a typical sight that humans use. This sight acts like a scanner and sends signals back to the t-800 to help with precision accuracy . Hence the reason for them being so dangerous to humans .

One thing I noticed that nobody has mentioned yet (correct me if I'm wrong):
On the rifle, the lower barrel's iron sight is on the bottom, instead of the top...which is an easy thing to miss/not notice, but it's a very dumb mistake, and is hard to unsee. Hopefully that barrel can be heated up and removed, and re-inserted the right way up.

Well the plasma rifle had different versions and IIRC in the t2 film it didn't have a sighting it was like a barrel tip.
Like i said there are different versions of the plasma rifle, there is a version with a lower sighting(probably used as reference by HT)
and there is a version like mine that doesn't have the sights.

Here is some compare shots:

Haha, well I stand by my stance that either:
A.) there shouldn't be ANY sights on the lower barrel, since it's useless to try and aim in that manner, and it's a machine, wtf does it need sights for?
B.) If there are "supposed" to be sights on the lower barrel, then they should AT LEAST be on the top, so it doesn't look like a joke.

It always looked to me like the Endo's gun was originally a rifle. (that just had some big laser parts added onto the top and back) That being siad, IMO it makes literally no sense at all for the traditional rifle portion of the gun to have its sight on the bottom of the barrel. It looks like a mistake.

It is possible that the underslung barrel is a form of laser used to ionize a channel through the atmosphere to the target making transmission of the plasma bolt easier.
From the wiki
ground and aerial hunter-killers use same plasma bolts" and don't have any extra barrels.
human rifle (used by Kyle Reese in T1 and seen in T2) shoots same boltcrap and doesn't have those barrels.
"future terminator" in T1 doesn't have that on his mega gun, as well as guns mounted on cars don't.
so that explanation doesn't match movie guns.

both types of guns were used in T2.
the guy with two rifles uses both types simultaneously.

Goliath (ground hunter-killer) has such thing on his actually shooting barrel.

i think the bigger question is why does a laser gun need a magazine clip? lol
1) there is no "laser gun" there. laser is a light, and in the movie there are pieces of matter flying slow enough to see their beginnings and ends.
do you see the beginning and the end of a ray?
2) not everything sticking out is a clip.

is not a magazine clip. this is a battery.

Where the hell is Butters anyway, he used to be all over this thread early-on. I enjoyed his rage battles with P.
