I considered getting the SS Artoo earlier this year but something made me hold off ordering.

I'm just glad there are finally some SW figs I want coming out.

Aparently a Tamashi one is being released next year. I'll be waiting for that to go with my 3P0. The HT one does look good though.

could it be Hot Toys R2 the same one Tamashii is releasing? I remember that c3po was Officially a Sideshow release.

Tamashii Nations at SDCC: "Diecast is coming to their Star Wars line for 2017, including die cast vehicles and an R2 to go with their previous die cast C-3PO"

I think I'm going to stick to the HT versions. I think in the end it would save me money to get the 2 pack of the TFA versions. The Diecast SW vehicles do intrigue me tho.

Tamashii may do a Tatooine speeder.
That would be cool.

I think I will get Hot Toys R2, if scale is good, die cast dome is enough for me, and I like the weathering. Some day, I will weather my tamashii 3po....

I'll use the SS to get me some weathering skills, it's almost not worth the effort selling it.

The SSC 3PO body is amazingly good though - it captures 3PO's slenderness better than the Tama and has the properly scaled pistons. The only real problem with the SSC 3PO overall is the lower facesculpt (that funky-*ss chin) and the thumbs thing. The rest is actually pretty great - even the articulation works nicely. The way the eyes turn on is effortless too (unlike the Tama,) and they look great lit up. And I like the gold finish - it works really well.

People dump on the figure I think mostly because it's Sideshow.

The HT TFA 3PO is a bit too different from OT for me, and I have the Tama as my "gold standard" 3PO but with mods (face, thumbs,) I quite like the SSC 3PO. If HT does an OT 3PO and it comes out great, I'll probably use the SSC as my backpack 3PO. But until then, he's a very nice back-up to the Tama.

i agree with this to a degree, but the 'thumbs thing' is a perfect example at how easy Sideshow makes some of us hate on them. For $200, figures should have actual thumbs

From the AT-ST thread... banners of R2 and c3po are being shown this weekend at the comic expo.
