LOL!! It makes shouldering and aiming their weapons easier, don't judge!

If I had to chose then I'd take mms 267 over these guys any day. If I didn't have a choice I'd grab two of these. While it's nice that hot toys released more shiny stormies I like the anh guys a lot better. Just my opinion of course

Plus its weird how the Rogue One Stormtroopers don't have holsters.

The Stormtroopers with Darth Vader at the end of Rogue One have no holsters yet at the start of A New Hope they do.

That's the only thing that really bugged me about Rogue One with how they decided not to give the Stormtroopers holsters.

There's stuff I like and dislike about both versions. There hasn't been a *perfect* stormie and may never be, at this rate.

I got a hold of a couple of those very accurate 3D prints off Shapeways, but prepping and painting those to my satisfaction is non-trivial. It could be months before I get to that.

I think I'll check out a Rogue One trooper in-hand. If it doesn't sit well with my "insane collector sense" I'll just sell it on.

The helmet is awful.

This is a Hero helmet which is what the HT ANH Stormtrooper is based on:

And this is the Hot Toys helmet:

The biggest flaw is that pronounced jaw line. It's completely the wrong shape. Everything else about the HT ANH Stormtrooper looks great and is pretty much spot on but I can never get over that funny looking helmet. I feel like they finally nailed the Stormtrooper helmet with the Rogue One version. The Sandtrooper is also quite good but that one is based on a Stunt helmet.

The ANH helmet is not perfect, but not as bad as described by you. RO helmet is not much better either, ok for RO but not for ANH. The Sandtrooepr has the best helmet so far. And the best scaled helmet, though a tad undersized remains the one from Gentle Giant original mini-bust and then the Marmit

Like I said Hot Toys absolutely nailed the helmet for this Rogue One Stormtrooper. The ANH Stormtrooper... not so much. This is honestly not something most people will even notice or care about but here's another comparison anyway...

I received stormtroopers last night. Comparing to my ANH sandtrooper, the armor is fitting tighter. The belt seems like glued on. Only complain the a bit low due the a long mid section armor.

I'm 99% sure Hot Toys did so well with the R1 Stormtroopers is because they were given the digital files. They even have the same amount of vent slots along the side of the helmet. For the ANH helmet they had to do it the old fashioned way, which can never be perfect. That being said, I do wish the ANH was closer to perfect than it is, but it's still great.
