I've held off buying other Joker figures since seeing this one previewed, have Hot Toys ever shown a prototype that looks this completed without releasing?

Too many times.

I know Rorschach and Shaw look unfinished, but still... :monkey2

I see your point there, I was holding out hope based on the presentation of Romero Joker with all those extra hands and accessories. Seemed like too much thought for a figure not to pull the trigger on.

Every time i see this thread bumped..

He's coming this year i can feel it:lecture

It's the only live action Joker NOT to have a figure made....they kind of have to.

Okay, point taken. I can't argue with the overwhelming amount of evidence provided. I thought the display and the detail to the accessories to the Romero Joker was an indication the figure was being released. Is that just fanboy delusion/stubbornness??? I can't imagine the prototype wasn't approved.

I don't know, probably pissing in the wind over here...:horse

Sometimes, a prototype may be shown off in the hopes that this publicity and exposure will spur the licensee to consent to providing the license. This was something speculated to be the case with the recent SDCC display of a Sideshow 1982 Deckard from Blade Runner. So, that could be the rationale. But who knows? There are certainly cases where HT has created a figure, and the lack of license approval is the reason given for not producing the figure. Smooth Criminal Michael Jackson is the example that comes to mind.

Now I can see "that" Batman not being produced as it's an artistic version and easy to slap together...

but that Romero Joker? Dag-Dammit!!!

I actually think the chances of Romero Joker go up if we also see that Batman released, because many folks will balk at Joker without a corresponding Batman, and not everyone picked the screen accurate version up on the first go around.

That's a surprising amount of unreleased MCU figures.
Not if you look at it as a ratio of revealed:released figures, though. For every Iron Man not produced, we get about 15 or 20 that are!

Yeah...their overall track record isn’t really that bad but they have enough in the fodder can to keep the fans guessing.

There was also Tron:Uprising figures rumored to have been abandoned if I remember correctly and, for good reason, they jumped ship on that terrible DC abomination Green Lantern.

They are very astute to what will play to their prime market, Asia.

Oh all the many, many Jokers that Hot Toys has made, this is the one I wanted most. And this is the one they chose not to do... :banghead

Damn you, Hot Toys. You put me on the hook, and then you just leave me hanging... :lol

Oh, and sorry if this bump gets any hopes up, but misery loves company. Especially this company, it seems...

I have zero money left in the slush fund to pay for even a dead-eyed Funko Pop... so I'm sure this Joker will be up for order tomorrow.

And sell out shortly afterwards.
