I had my own UPS issues today -- including the guy at CS telling me that it is "100% guaranteed at the UPS station ready for pick up" while I was telling him that the UPS truck actually dropped it off while he was making that promise to me -- anyway...

Nice figure. I can't imagine how light he would seem without that chair. Not much to him otherwise.


So, just to confirm: even though the instruction say that the batteries are included, this throne does NOT come with the two AAA batteries, right? If it does, where the hell are they?

Yeah, this figure is all about the posing to give him "display weight." He doesn't have it straight from the box, that's for sure.

I would also say that this is one of those "better in hand than in pics" figures. I took a few pics of him when I first got it a while back and really didn't think any of them captured the figure very well.

Having had it for a couple of weeks, I do like the fig a lot, but its kind of a mixed bag where you have to go down the list of negatives one by one and remove them with posing, carefui futzing and lighting. This figure relies on precise and creative posing more than most.

I'm going to try a "mega photo shoot" once I have time with Vader, Palps, my three Royal Guards plus 3-4 Imperial officers lined up in a kind of "arrival of the Emperor" scene.

Palps definitely needs a 'display' -- either the throne, a guard or two or Vader -- to make him 'complete' and exciting.

He's loads better than SS Emperor though, and that was one of SS's best back in the day.

What batteries ?

Got a hold of SS today in regards to my deluxe Emperor not shipping..they just told me they haven't gotten in a full shipment yet. It was just a bunch of BS. I know they've already gotten in the deluxe. So yeah, 6 weeks ago upgrading my original order in July to the deluxe really put me in the very back of the line. Then told me about the email where it'll tell me when I'm fully charged. Just send the damn thing as soon as that truck gets there..it already takes 9 days for me to get it once they ship. I probably won't get this thing until January.

The last time i ever adjusted my order with SS which was Sith Ani on July, changed from Flex to full payment and next two weeks it was shipped to me =]] while others need to wait very long.

I find the key to a natural looking seated pose is to focus on posture.
I plan to do the same with Palpatine, and I’ll post pics here when I do.

Awesome! That’s exactly what I want to do, but I only have detolfs to display these figures. You can’t really get the throne a good distance from the duel in a detolf. Might actually be really crammed. Oh well. We’ll see. I’m making my final flex payment on ESB Vader this Wednesday (either he or my SS Deluxe Vader will be stand-ins until Hot Toys makes ROTJ Vader), but I still have another month before Palpatine is paid off. Jedi Luke patiently waits...

No it's just the shelves that are glass. And I removed the middle bar on mine to allow a bit more space. I've got 7 figures per shelf now, but I could fit in a few more if I needed to. For those who want to keep everything encased and protected from dust it may not be a good option, but I've never been too concerned about that (and never even put the doors on my detolfs). Here are a couple pics:

I have those shelves as well and never thought about removing that middle bar. How stable are the shelves without it?

They're very stable. I also have another one for my Marvel collection and they have no problem holding the heavier diecast IM figures.

I never use the stands, you just gotta futz around with your figures until you find a stable pose. It helps to know about center of gravity and weight distribution.

to me the stands/base make them "official" high end pieces. Without them there just......figures. Just my view though.

My deluxe is shipping on Friday from Hong Kong and my Royal Guards are shipping next week from the Netherlands. You have to love how well travelled these figures are.

Finally managed to collect my Emperor from courier. Here's a few pictures from earlier tonight...you could literally spend hours futzing this guy, and lighting plays a very important part to capture the ROTJ look, that i've yet to achieve.
