I don't have mine yet, but it's disappointing to hear that the cushions are moulded rather than softer material causing this issue. As many folks have mentioned, the throne costs as much as a 1:1 chair so it would have been good to see HT go the extra mile & use soft goods for the cushioned parts. QMX managed it with their command chair (although admittedly on a less complex shape).
I suppose it at least removes any concerns over material disintegration issue...

I don't think a softer material would have helped, as the figure still wouldn't be heavy enough to sink into it like a real person would. And I can't really get Kirk to sink much into his chair either. They probably would have needed to do some kind of swap out piece that was specially made for the Emperor to sit in.

A molded swap out piece would’ve been a good idea. Still waiting on mine from BBTS (no word of when yet) so I don’t know the all the posing/seating issues first hand yet. Still excited for this guy though!

Yeah, with the prices we're paying for this crap a moulded seat would have been a welcome addition. It really ruins the illusion with him looking like a toddler.

You could literally spend hours futzing the Emperor, i have cut the little stitches holding the hood in place, this gives you more range to shape the hood.
Also when seating him, don't be scared to make him bend at the abs otherwise his head hits off top of the throne.

Super nice pose, much more natural than most have been able to achieve. Thanks for the ab crunch tip, I saved your photos for reference when mince comes in.

You’re welcome! I’m going to spend some time over the weekend trying different poses, change the hands etc etc. I want to settle on a definitive pose as I tend not to move my figures much once I find one I like.

Did the Emperor really wear those sassy little brown boots?

I always thought he wore slippers.

Incredible job with the pose!!

Just inboxed mine and I love it!!! You’re right about his head touching the top of the chair. I guess the Emperor sat with a bit of a hunch. Ha!

So I just smuggled palpatine into the house and did a quick futz. I hate to say it: I’m underwhelmed. The pervert smile bothers me and the hood is undersized. The high chair throne is great but he looks awkward in it. Maybe I need to see better pics of how to futz him but my initial grade is a B. This should have been as good as tarkin. The smile ruins the figure. How did this not have a serious sculpt?
We spent a lot on the throne version, he should fit in it without having to place the stand under his feet. I have him with chubby Jedi Luke right now and I’m wondering which figure I’m most disappointed in. This cost too much to not be a homerun.

Got mine today, along with my second guard. I think he looks great. It takes some time to get him looking good in the chair, but it is possible.

My throne has a bit of a manufacturing defect - almost like heat affected part of a throne armrest around where one of the electronic panels went in, creating a few depressions.:(

Not sure if its prominent enough to return it (which would be a major pain,) and these pics show it at its worst. It's fine from most angles, but when the light/reflection hits the depression just right, its somewhat noticeable. The metallic and dark paint doesn't help - if it was a lighter color and more matte, not sure it would be all that noticeable.

Unfortunately its also in an area where the robes/body don't cover it, and Detolf-type lighting from above makes it more visible.

This is the front face:

What the eff. I would try to return that.

Yeah, it's always a bummer when you get a flaw. I bought it off ebay (part of the reason why I usually buy from Sideshow for easy returns) so I'll send a message and see how I go, but I'm not too hopeful. Have never tried to return or swap over eBay.

In comparing the new HT throne to the old Sideshow one, I did notice the base part seems much more accurate on the Sideshow version. The SSC one still isn't 100% accurate, but it seems like they got the "webbing" (or "spokes") aspect right.

Even though HT got the outermost ring of the base correct, the inner part has webbing that's way too shallow and doesn't go far enough up the core/post. It's not hugely noticeable, especially with him sitting in the throne, but it kinda makes me want to use the Sideshow base (the two bases are identical diameters) as I did notice the base seemed off in pics even before I got mine.

This is two pics of the prop at top, then HT lower left and Sideshow lower right.

My only two gripes are his hood is too small and his iconic yellow eyes are missing and that's the big one for me. Otherwise I think he's pretty good. Also wish he had a non grinning headsculpt.

Yeah, working a good pose for him seated on throne is way more difficult than I thought it'd be. His head is pretty hard against the "roof" of the throne too. He's really kind of a tight fit height-wise. You have to do a very harsh ab crunch to get the slouch. And yeah, the feet are dangling like a toddler in daddy's chair. You can kinda cover it with the robes, but it pulls out a lot of the natural flowing look, because you need to pull it tight to get enough to cover the feet.
