Thanks for the positive feedback on the review I posted guys!
jaymig926 has gotten the best result so far IMO. There is a fine balance to giving him the right look, while not making it seem like he's laying down in the chair, or sliding off if it. And I hate the feet dangle. Does anyone know if they did in the movie? I can't remember...

My only two gripes are his hood is too small and his iconic yellow eyes are missing and that's the big one for me. Otherwise I think he's pretty good. Also wish he had a non grinning headsculpt.

The hood is a bit small, but I've seen it look a lot better when it's pulled forward and down as much as possible. It's only when it's simply framing his face that it looks off I think.

I think I read (or watched) an interview with Ian McDermit. He said his toes could only just touch the ground to spin the throne around for that scene in ROTJ. So i guess it's probably screen accurate from that point of view. :lol

The Emperor has arrived....and he is most displeased with my apparent lack of progress.....

That’s a huge box! What kind of cabinet do you have your detolf sitting on? Does it have a drawer?

Love him so far. This is mine just out of the box with not much futzing at all.

I used a small bit of packing foam on his back to allow him to sit more naturally in the throne

It takes some time to get him looking good in the chair, but it is possible.

Rofl... I've seen this pose, immediately following some huge bong rips.

Looks like he's going to slide right out of the chair XD

Yeah, even with the throne in-hand, I really can't say I like him seated in it. I think this figure definitely looks best standing. Maybe it's the expression, maybe the higher sculpted cushion and dangling feet thing, not sure (you'd think it'd be an obvious iconic pair-up,) but this figure and the throne just don't go together very well at all.

I love the lighting effect on the throne and it's really well done overall, but I think it's going to remain a backdrop for the figure rather than paired up with him.

I've tried for days to get a seated pose that I like and really haven't been able to do so. And it's also one of the most difficult posing challenges I've ever encountered - in a pairing that I thought would take all of one minute to get looking great.

You could literally spend hours futzing the Emperor, i have cut the little stitches holding the hood in place, this gives you more range to shape the hood.
Also when seating him, don't be scared to make him bend at the abs otherwise his head hits off top of the throne.

It looked like the stitches holding the hood were holding it in two different places (on to the hood itseld and one to his shoulders/robe). Did you cut both of those attachments?

While I have grown to really like the Palps figure overall, I do think the handsculpts are a bit of disappointment. They are about 10% oversized and don't have the superfine detailing of say Tarkin's or Ben's hands (maybe we were spoiled with that incredible level of detail.)

The Emperor onscreen is all about very subtle hand poses and the included hands (other the the left hand with the splayed out thumb and pinkie finger, which works well) just don't hit many of the iconic Palps moments for me. A few of the old Sideshow Palps hands worked very well and in some ways are better than these.

Here you get two right "kinda pointing" hands that appear 95% the same (I think one is meant for gripping the cane) and two wide-open/flat "jazz hands" hands that no one would ever use, and a generic gripping hand.

Haha, he is slouching quite a bit, but that's how he looks in the movie. And it's the only way his feet will touch the floor.

Very cool pic. I still have my Kenner Emperor too. Amazing how after 35 years, owning a replica of these characters is still a big deal.
Hell yeah. I mean, when I got the Toys McCoy Indy in '99..I never thought anything could get better than that. It's funny how that works. Makes me think the way figures are now, they aren't at their peak. Like, what's next..silicone skin, real hair on all figures and the whole translucent irises thing? Yep, kinda have that already.

You’re right there’s a few stitches holding the hood in place. I’ve only cut the one at the back so far.
