I did a little photo session with my Emperor yesterday.

This was the first time I actually took the force lightning out of the box. I like the photo possibilities it gives and the sculpt quite fits the scene as well.
The only thing that I feel could be improved in realism is the way the robe hangs. It has quite some heft to it in 1:1, which creates natural folds. This fabric is too stiff to drape naturally. I might try my hand at adding some well placed stitches here and there to see if that improves the overall look.
And I still think the hands are oversized. My first attempt at making new hands wasn't a success, so I'll have to start a V2.

I hope you enjoy the shots. :)

For some reason I keep seeing his smile as forced... I have Tarkin and the Emperor sitting on the same shelf and Tarkin keeps taking the focus even though the eyes should be drawn to Palpatine... it might be the lights, but he just don’t seem evil enough to me at the moment.

Viewing angle and lighting are a big factor with this portrait, under lighting the mirrors the set lighting from ROTJ, and from a dead on or above angle, it works, from below or in bright lighting, something about it doesn't quite work.

I would try folding the hood in more around his face instead of being so open, force some shadows in there.

In the movie, the opening more or less runs vertically down along his face and doesn't really open until shoulders/chest.

Yeah he definitely has a bit of Hugh Hefner and old Biff Tannen under certain lighting.:lol As MF says, it's more in the way the hood is folded and it needs more harsh lighting like in the movie.

Many have surmised that this is what they were going for.

Dramatic lighting is quite a factor in pulling off the look.

Yes, I guess I should try and cover his face more with the hood. I’d need to cut the thread on the back for that, right?
