The inside stitches also do a difference if you look at my comparison pics a few posts above. The Emperor needs to have the hood covering more of the face (removing the back stitch can help). The Emperor's face was never shown in ROTJ in full light, there were always shadows

Didn’t need to cut any stitches, but narrowing and bringing the hood forward did do a lot for the sculpt.

There ya go, now that's the Emperor. I see those Sideshow "How to be a poser" videos and think, is this really necessary, but many collectors and such don't appreciate how far subtle things can go for making a figure look best, even some official product photos for figures with hoods and such have done some strange things with hoods that are unflattering. Especially with a character who is always hooded or often hooded in the film or show, that hood plays a big role in what our minds think the character looks like. Our memories of Palpatine are shaped by the shadows cast by his hood, the light in the overhead of his chair, etc.

Back when the proto first showed up at shows and we were all thinking he looked like Ed Harris, the hood was always horribly shaped at those shows putting almost the whole head on display, but then sure enough, the product photos go up with proper hood and lighting and suddenly Ed's gone and Palpatine's in the house.

I havent tried cutting the stiches but manage to pull down the hood to cover a large propotion of his face, I think he looks decent now.

I cut the stitches in the back and it does help a lot. I think the sculpt has finally become Palpatine and the smile works.

Sure looks good with two guards. I may have to breakdown and get a second.

I’m afraid it does all the difference! I swore never to get two of the same figure, but the setup was just clearly missing symmetry. It looks fantastic with the red all around him.

The funny thing is the most accurate Force Pike is the one from the old Medicom 1/6 figure followed by the Gentle Giant statue. HT figure doesn't have an accurate top of the pike.
